Building a turnout by hand is one of the most rewarding parts of model railroading, but preparing the printed circuit board ties—also known as PCB sleepers in Australia—can take a considerable amount of time.

Each tie must be cut to the correct length, prepared for soldering, and properly gapped to prevent an electrical short circuit. This becomes especially important when building a live-frog or Electrofrog-style turnout that requires switched frog polarity.

The ANE MODEL PC001 pack was developed to simplify this preparation work, allowing builders to spend more time shaping the rails, forming the frog, adjusting the points, soldering, and achieving accurate track geometry.

In this video, we show how the ANE MODEL LC2xx series decoders perform in different HO scale models.
Beyond the basics — headlight control and motor speed tuning — the LC2xx decoders can also drive additional lighting functions and create more realistic operating behavior.

For example, the HXD3B (HO) has an optional interior lighting setup. By wiring the decoder’s F1 and F2 function outputs to the correct points, you can control the interior lights digitally via DCC — and even go further with logic such as:

interior light ON/OFF (and effect changes if needed)

automatic shut-off after departure

customized behavior using function outputs + CV programming
