SAREP

To commemorate SAREP's 4th anniversary, a Thanks Giving mass was organised on Wednesday 12th August 2026, at the Good Shepherd's Church. The mass was presided by Father Ronald. The Chairperson of SAREP, in her closing remarks expressed words of thanks to all devoted members of SAREP, partners, sponsors and collaborators. She also gave thanks to the Almighty Father for the strength, inspiration, guidance and countless blessings bestowed upon us. We wish all members a happy 4th anniversary.

The Seychelles Association for Retired Education Professionals (SAREP) launched the Mon Premye Liv project this morning at the Sheik Kalifa Auditorium. The project is an initiative designed to encourage parents and caregivers to read to their babies from birth and build the capacity of health professionals to support this movement. The project is sponsored by SACOS. The Minister for Health officially launched the project. In attendance were the First Lady, Health Senior officials, Pricipal Secretaries, CEOs, parents with their babies, SAREP members and other guests. SAREP would like to express its gratitude to all sponsors and partners who made time to attend the memorable event. Thank you all.

The launching of Mon Premye Liv will take place tomorrow, Thursday 16th July in partnership with the Ministry of Health.

SAREP was invited by the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development to participate in a stakeholders consultation,as part of a Targeted Review Exercise of the Seychelles education system by the African Peer Review Mechanism.
The purpose of the review was to assess the current state, performance and quality of the system with a view to identify key strengths and challenges as well as priority areas for improvement. The focus group discussion took place on 7th May and SAREP was represented by its Chairperson. The NGOs present shared their vision and goals and discussed projects they were implementing that related to education. They also gave their views on how they felt they could strengthen collaboration with the Ministry.

As this beautiful Mother’s Day comes to an end, I would like, on behalf of our association, to extend heartfelt appreciation to all mothers, grandmothers, caregivers and mother figures in our community.

Today, we celebrated not only the love and sacrifices of mothers, but also the important role you play in nurturing children, strengthening families and building a caring society through love, stories, guidance and education.

May you end this day feeling valued, appreciated and deeply loved.

TABLE RONDE: "La jeunesse et la lecture aux Seychelles"

Le mercredi 29 avril, L' Alliance Française, en partenriat avec SAREP, a organisé une table ronde pour commemorer la journée Internationale du livre et du droit d'auteur.
Cette activité est une belle initiative pour sensibiliser les jeunes à la lecture.
Les points de discussion étaient centrés sur:
les habitudes de lecture des jeunes et le type de lecture qu'ils préfèrent; la place de la lecture dans leurs routones quotidiennes; la lecture papier; le numérique, les influences des réseaux sociaux et les écrants et l'influen e des parents sur la lecture de leurs enfants.
M. Jacques Koui était le modérateur, comme intervenants il y a avait Mme Fatima Agathine,
Mme Rosemarie Bastienne et Mme Williana Lim Sam de SAREP, l'écrivain M. Peter Lalande et trois étudiants de l'école Française.

SAREP in partnership with the National Library celebrated World Book and Copyright Day on 23rd April with a book gifting ceremony for parents, childcare givers and partners.
The theme chosen was I kontan lir, Zot kontan lir, Nou tou nou kontan lir to reflect inclusion and diversity in reading and literacy. The ceremony also saw the launching of the Braille version of the children 's Kreol story " Zazou en zoli pti zourit"adapted for the blind as well as an interpretation of the story in Sign Language for the deaf and hard of hearing. These two inclusive reading initiatives recognise that every child regardless of their ability or circumstance should have access to quality books and other reading materials that meet their needs, that they can relate to and that provide opportunities for them to share books and discover the joy of reading. The Speaker of the Seychelles National Assembly graced the ceremony with her presence and delivered a strong message of encouragement and support to parents and the wider community to nurture a culture of reading that is inclusive and meets the diverse needs of our young children.

Activities to commemmorate World Book and Copyright Day continues with the Book Gifting ceremony for parents on Praslin organised by SAREP. SAREP wishes to extend its heartfelt gratitude the the Baie Ste District Administration for the support given. Thank you to the parents and Day Care Operators for their presence.

Book gifting ceremony for parents who participated in the sensitisation sessions on SLAM. The sessions took place at Grand Anse Praslin and Baie Ste Anne mid last year.
Today SAREP is proud to present parents with books for their children. We hope that they will continue to read to their children everyday.

MEMBERS OF SAREP participated in the Way of the Cross on Thursday 12th March 2026. We stopped in 8 churches to meditate on the passion of our Lord Jesus. Members were very pleased as the time spent in prayers was very uplifting.
