Sad News! Due to the new management at the Tavanipupu Resort I was forced to shut Solomons Diving down for good. Sorry and sad to say that I will not be operating in the Solomon Islands anymore.
Not too long ago I found two Robust Ghost Pipefish (Solenostomus cyanopterus) during a Night Dive hovering over the sandy bottom. And now, just a couple of days ago, I found an Ornate Ghost Pipefish (Solenostomus paradoxus) directly under the jetty. So it was time to add the Family of the Ghost Pipefishes (Solenostomidae) to the online Marine Life Guide. Definitely one of my favourite fish families.
Also just a few days ago I stood on the jetty in the evening looking into the shallow water when I could spot a Banded Snake Eel (Myrichthys colubrinus) exploring the sea grass. Lucky me, he stayed long enough for me to get the camera and jump in.
On other dives during the´last week I finally got close up to a Pufferfish that I have seen before but that was always to shy to take a picture of – until this time. Turns out it was a Striped Puffer (Arothron manilensis) that has now also joined the online Marine Life Guide.
Also did I upload another Blenny, the Pictus Blenny (Ecsenius pictus) and a new Damselfish, the Blue-Green Chromis (Chromis viridis).
