Waterlost

My friend Júlio Laranjeiro, the eternal captain of the "Julius " — one of Peniche’s best-known boats — came by to leave us a true rarity: the book “Berlengas — The History and the Stories…”.
A book dedicated to the history of the Berlengas, its territory, its heritage, and the many stories that, over the years, have become part of this archipelago that means so much to all of us from Peniche.
Júlio is such a character, and a special man. He decided to leave this book here at Waterlost because he recognises what, little by little, we have been building here: a space where we preserve pieces of Peniche’s history and culture, of the sea, and of the people who are part of it.
A curiosity, it was Júlio’s father who gave my Dad his very first job when he was just 11 years old — and for that too, we remain forever grateful.
The book is now at Waterlost, available for the community to read, explore and enjoy.

Today is the Fisherman National Day. Assinalamos assim um dia muito especial para nós. Deveremos sempre celebrar a vida, e tudo o que de bom ela nos oferece. Mas também deveremos celebrar a morte, em forma de honrar os nossos antepassado familiares que se sacrificaram no Mar, na sua arte maior que é a Pesca. Para assinalar um dia especial, tivemos a visita do Martim .cunha , um membro dos Bombeiros do Concelho de Espinho .
O Martim tem 23 anos e já está em tão nobre missão. Deixou um símbolo representativo da sua farda na Waterlost. Juntámos à nossa colecção de colectividades, corporações militares, polícias e estruturas de salvamento que se têm ligado à Waterlost pela sua Missão.
Mas deixem partilhar que esta divisão é especial e não poderia ter aparecido em dia mais específico - talvez se existissem em 1955, poderiam ter sido mesmo eles a resgatar o o meu avô João e os 15 homens que faleceram no "Graça de Deus". "Onde e Quando for preciso" - que Deus vos acompanhe na honrosa Missão de enganar o triste destino de alguns, para que esses que possam vir para terra contar a história. Um Feliz dia a Todos os Pescadores e entusiastas da Pesca, para quem faz ou fez parte deste mundo.

É com enorme orgulho que a Waterlost marca presença na Bienal do Mar 2026 — um certame que reúne o melhor da Economia Azul em Portugal.
Um encontro entre ciência, cultura, inovação e empresas ligadas ao mar, realizado em Peniche, uma cidade profundamente ligada à pesca, à investigação oceânica e ao surf.
Para nós, enquanto marca Portuguesa nascida entre pescadores e surfistas, faz todo o sentido estar aqui, representando a ligação entre tradição, identidade local e cultura do oceano.
