We’re delighted to introduce the new Board of the North Canterbury Radio Trust (Compass FM) and share a little about the team guiding the station into its next chapter.

Over the past couple of months, the Board has worked closely with Station Manager Stephanie McDonald, Content & Music Director, Kerry Treymane and our fantastic team of volunteers as we look at how Compass FM can continue to grow, strengthen its community connections and build for the future.

We would also like to recognise the work and commitment of our previous Board members: Grant Edmundson, Dave Stewart, David Buckley, Naomi Woodham and Ron van Til, along with Acting Secretary Lynda Brice. We sincerely thank them for the time and energy they gave to Compass FM and the North Canterbury Radio Trust.

At the heart of Compass FM is our community. As a registered charity, we’re here to serve North Canterbury and help local voices be heard.

We champion local voices, organisations, events and the people who make North Canterbury what it is, while bringing you great music and conversations that matter.

Importantly, Compass FM also supports our local and wider community during emergencies, helping to keep people informed, connected and up to date with the information they need when it matters most.

As a Board, we’re committed to building on those foundations, strengthening our connections with the community and local businesses, creating new opportunities for the station, and ensuring Compass FM continues to be a trusted and valued part of our community for years to come.

From Canterbury - Fire and Emergency

Fire and Emergency are in attendance at a large fire on Old South Rd in Dunsandel. This fire is producing large amounts of black smoke that can be seen from Christchurch City.

We have 7 fire appliances in attendance and crews are working to bring the fire under control.

Please close all windows and doors if you are downwind of this fire and stay away from the area to allow our crews to work safely.
