πΎ Is Your Pet Struggling When Youβre Away?
Separation anxiety is more common than you think! Pets may show stress when left alone, and itβs important to recognise the signs early.
Signs to watch for:
β
Excessive barking or meowing
β
Destructive behaviour (chewing furniture, scratching doors)
β
Pacing, drooling, or panting
β
Accidents indoors despite being house trained
What you can do:
β
Gradually get your pet used to being alone with short absences
β
Provide interactive toys or puzzle feeders to keep them occupied
β
Keep departures and arrivals low-key to reduce stress
β
Consult your vet for guidance - sometimes behaviour support or medication helps
With patience and proper support, your furry friend can feel calm and secure even when youβre away. π

β οΈπ Slug Bait & Pets - What You Need to Know
With spring here and gardens getting plenty of attention, itβs a good time for a reminder that slug and snail baits can be extremely dangerous to pets.
Products containing metaldehyde are particularly toxic to dogs and cats, and even a relatively small amount can cause serious poisoning.
Signs of poisoning can develop quickly and may include:
β’ Drooling or vomiting
β’ Restlessness or agitation
β’ Wobbliness or difficulty walking
β’ Muscle tremors or twitching
β’ Seizures
β’ Increased body temperature
πΎ If you think your pet may have eaten slug bait, contact a vet immediately. Even if they appear well. Donβt wait for symptoms to develop.
If possible, bring the packaging or take a photo of the product with you to the vet, as knowing the active ingredient can help guide treatment.
π± Looking for a safer alternative?
Consider slug baits containing iron - rather than metaldehyde - such as Quash. These are generally considered a lower risk to pets, but they are not completely pet-safe and can still cause poisoning if enough is eaten. Always follow the label directions and keep the product out of reach of pets.
A little extra care in the garden can help keep our four-legged family members safe this spring. π±πΆπ±

Mercury came in for his neutering recently and was a little cautious at first. πΎπ
We took things at his pace, giving him plenty of time to settle in and feel comfortable. Before long, he was starting to come around and show us a little more of his personality. πΊ
A big day for Mercury, and he handled it like a champ! π

π± Tiny Gland, Mighty Effects!
Your catβs thyroid may be small, but it plays a huge role in their health! Thyroid issues -like hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism-can affect energy levels, weight, appetite, and even heart health.
Signs to watch for:
β
Sudden weight loss or gain
β
Changes in appetite
β
Increased activity or unusual lethargy
β
Vomiting, diarrhea, or grooming changes
If you notice any of these, a vet check-up and thyroid test can make all the difference. Keeping your catβs thyroid in balance means more purrs, less worry! π
