Charlie & Beau

It’s the second week of the School Holidays…how’s it going and what’s everyone been up to?

Here at Charlie & Beau headquarters, I’ve been resting up after a Total Knee Replacement. Things are progressing well and I am looking forward to returning to the store in the near future.
In the meantime, Charlie & Beau has been in great hands, with our ‘helpers’ looking after our lovely customers needs and preparing for the arrival of our Christmas goodies….exciting times ahead.

Are you out and about these school holidays? Be sure to drop in….so much to see and choose from…our shelves are stocked with beautifully crafted products.
We’re not just another ‘gift’ store…we are home to 20+ small businesses. Shop local and support small businesses.

Let’s take a wee look at some of the gorgeous goodies you’ll find at Charlie & Beau….let’s take a deeper look into Marama Apotheke.

Hand-crafted rongoā, harvested under the full moon, guided by tikanga from beginning to end, honouring the mauri of Te Waonui a Tāne.
Marama Apotheke aims to produce effective natural remedies to ease pain and discomfort and to support wellbeing by blending traditional rongoā Māori with modern aroma science.

Aroma science is the study of volatile organic compounds and their uses. They are often highly concentrated in essential oils extracted from plants.

Against common assumptions, it is not just about the scents. Instead, the compounds in these oils can have a variety of effects on the body when absorbed through the skin. As examples, some are numbing, others antimicrobial, and others again affect hormone receptors.

By adding their own range of effects, essential oils complement traditional rongoā Māori well.
