Hard day today saying goodbye to Mindy.

A duck dog with a huge amount of guts. She never stopped working and very, very seldom lost a duck throughout a season. We had many great years together, and she made me realise that duck shooting just isn’t duck shooting without a trusty duck dog beside you.

She was a bloody great dog, although she did have a dirty fe**sh for possums and would happily raid a rubbish tin if you ever gave her half a chance 😂

I can safely say Mindy brought a lot of joy to plenty of our friends and family over the years. She was one of those dogs you just couldn’t hold back. Even at 11 and a half, she was still doing 300m retrieves on Lake Wairarapa, chasing down wingers like she’d done her whole life.

Our new pup, Rum, has some bloody big boots to fill.
