Celebrating the success of the Kumpa Water Project launch in Kajiado County! 🙌 💙
Last December marked the official opening of the first WaterStarters project, a collaborative effort bringing clean water to Kenyan communities. A heartfelt thanks to partners Upande Limited, Maji Water Storage Ltd. Kenya, Irri-Hub KE , and Maji Milele for contributing to the project's success.
This initiative is making a significant impact on employment, health education, and empowering local communities. H.E. Deputy Governor of Kajiado, Martin Moshisho, emphasized the project's importance for the community, particularly benefiting women and girls.
We take immense pride in this achievement and are energized to move forward, initiating more water projects. Together, we're making waves for a brighter and more sustainable future! 💧🌍

Our WaterStarters philosophy goes beyond access to safe and affordable water. We put community impact central. One of our integrated approaches is water and health. We empower local healthcare workers to bring change to the entire community.
With Amref's innovative mobile learning platform, Leap, we've successfully trained 15 healthcare working within the community surrounding our first borehole. These 15 volunteers were trained in the essential areas of safe water, sanitation, and hygiene practices. So far, they have reached 2.800 people with increased knowledge and awareness on topics such as diarrhea. This waterborne disease is still the second leading cause of death of children under 5 years.

Lydia, a resident of Kumpa, shares her experience: “For us, my husband works with a company, and he is being paid at the end of the month. With the prepaid meter, I can put in my money for the month. And during the month, I can fetch my water. This will allow us to plan early for water, ensuring that the money cannot be used for something else”.

Last month, we opened our first borehole and which is now providing safe and clean water to the entire community. We recently spoke with Lydia, a mother of three, and Grace, a Community Health Worker, to hear their thoughts on the new borehole and our innovative program.
Lydia shared how relieved she is now that her family can access clean water. She no longer worries about the health risks associated with contaminated water and is grateful for the convenience of having a reliable source of water nearby.
Grace also shared her enthusiasm for the borehole, explaining that it has made her work as a Community Health Worker much easier. She's now able to educate community members on the importance of clean water and the health benefits.
We're proud of the positive impact our borehole is making in the community and remain committed to bringing safe and clean water to more people.

Exciting news everyone! We're thrilled to introduce you to our first franchisee, Philip Salaton!
He's a village administrator for Kajiado County Government and also a passionate entrepreneur. Philip's experience with NGOs like The Kenya Red Cross, Red Crescent Society, and UNICEF in rural water management, WASH, climate adaptation, food security, and emergency response makes him the perfect candidate for this franchise opportunity.
