🌍 Whether you are going on holiday to Spain or Your home country – if you work and are insured in the Netherlands, you are generally covered under the Dutch health insurance system.

In case of an emergency medical visit in the EU, you need an 𝐄𝐇𝐈𝐂 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐝 (European Health Insurance Card). The card entitles you to necessary medical care in the public healthcare system under the same conditions as residents of the country you are in. Co-payments may apply, and some costs may later need to be settled with your insurer.

𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐢𝐭?
🔸 It depends on your health insurer in the Netherlands. In many cases, the EHIC is printed on the back of your plastic health insurance card (blue background with the EU logo).

🔸If you do not have a physical insurance card, log in to your insurer’s mobile app or customer portal. You will find a digital EHIC there – download it to your phone or take a screenshot.

💡 In a foreign hospital or public clinic, it is usually enough to present this card along with your ID.

The statutory minimum wage in the Netherlands will increase again from 1 July 2026. The country updates its minimum wage twice a year through wage indexation, which means salaries are adjusted regularly.

CHANGES:
✅ minimum wage – €14.99 gross per hour
✅ age – 21 years and older
✅ calculated per hour – no fixed monthly minimum wage
✅ effective from – 1 July 2026
