🍂 An Invitation to Play… Autumn Colours! 🍂

An autumn-inspired set-up, some paint in autumn colours🤎🧡💛💚❤️, pieces of paper 📑 and toilet rolls. Simple materials for the children to explore and experiment with, discovering different ways to make marks 🖌️, mix colours and create their own little works of art. 🍁

Our little ones had so much fun watching the leaves fall 🍂🍃, trying to catch them 🙌, walking through them and, of course, helping to sweep them up afterwards 🧹!

A simple autumn experience filled with excitement, movement and lots of laughter! 🫶

What happens when the canvas 🧑‍🎨 is no longer a piece of paper? 🎨

Our children were invited to leave their marks on natural branches, transforming them through colour, touch and their own ideas.

They painted 🖌️, explored, mixed colours and discovered how paint behaves on a completely different surface.

No picture to copy 🖼️ and no expected end result — simply an invitation to explore, create and see where the process takes them.

Because in the eyes of a child, almost anything can become a canvas. 🤎

Their very first exploration of leaf printing 🍂

What happens when we add paint 🎨 to a leaf 🍁 ? What if we mix the colours 🧑‍🎨? How hard do we need to press before the leaf leaves its mark?

Little hands 🙌 touched, smelled 👃, painted, pressed and lifted — discovering the textures, shapes and details of nature along the way.

So much learning happening through one simple invitation. 🍁

Oh no! 😱 Our outdoor yard is full of fallen leaves and twigs! 🍂🌿

We need some little helpers… can you give us a hand? 🧺👧🧒

A little “problem” turned into the perfect opportunity to work together! 🫶

🎨 Process art in action!

Two little artists 👨‍🎨 👩‍🎨 , one easel, painting on opposite sides! 🖌️ Painting vertically helps strengthen shoulders , arms 🙋‍♀️🙋 and little hands 🙌 while supporting coordination and control. Sharing the easel also brings a lovely social element as they create, explore and express themselves together.

It’s not about the finished picture — it’s all about the process! 💛

Carefully prepared by our little chefs 👩🏻‍🍳👨🏻‍🍳 using only the finest seasonal ingredients: freshly picked leaves 🍃 🍁 , crunchy pine cones and a generous sprinkle of imagination! 😂

No Michelin stars just yet… but plenty of stirring 🥣, scooping 🥄, pouring , exploring and VERY serious discussions about the recipe! 🤎

Because when children lead the play, a few treasures from nature can become absolutely anything. 🌿

🌈 Rainbow Process Art 🎨

A sheet of foil, some rainbow-coloured paints and the freedom to explore! Our little ones enjoyed spreading, swirling and mixing the colours on the shiny foil, watching as new colours appeared. 💛💙❤️

With process art, there is no ‘right’ finished product — the value is in the experience itself. Through this simple invitation, the children explored colour mixing, cause and effect, sensory experiences and creativity, while strengthening their fine motor skills 👌 and hand-eye coordination 👋👀.

Sometimes the simplest set-ups offer the richest opportunities for discovery. 🌈
