The Hokkaido Backcountry Club (HBC) is a club dedicated to increasing awareness, education, cooperation and information exchange between recreational skiers, boarders, snowmobile enthusiasts, guiding companies, heli and cat ski operators and the government of Hokkaido by offering a meeting place both on an offline to discuss safety and environmental issues as they relate to mountain snow and summer sports.

Huge announcement! As many of you probably have found out Black Diamond Lodge will be unavailable for the foreseeable near future, but fret not! Hokkaido Backcountry Club and Black Diamond Lodge and tours are proud to announce that we will be managing an alternative property this season. Not only is the property ideally located within quick access to the Moiwa ski area and fantastic backcountry, but it also comes with its own helipad!! The best part is that we have accommodation to suit every budget and group size from 1-12. This is your first sneak peak. Stay tuned for more information photos, videos, and pricing on bdlodge.com but for now anyone interested in a multi day tour specifically targeting backcountry touring please get a hold of us immediately. We are creating custom packages for our guests right now. One last note, any Japan based companies that are looking for a summer or fall corporate retreat please get a hold of us. We can accommodate up to 40 people comfortably.

Next winter marks our 10th season operating at Chisenupuri, and we’re excited to welcome both returning guests and those joining us for the first time.
To celebrate, we’re offering a 15% Early Bird Discount on both Group CAT Seats and Private CAT bookings made by June 30!

ALL bookings for our 2026–27 heli season are now OPEN 🚁
Entering our 14th season of heli operations at Shiribetsu-dake since the 2013–14 season.
A huge thank you to all of our guests, guides, pilots, and partners who’ve been part of the journey over the years.
We’re also excited to announce that:
• Private bookings for our Shimamaki CAT program are now open
• Individual seats for our Chisenupuri CAT operation are now available
The cat is out of the bag!
The current situation of sledding in Japan. We certainly hope it changes in the future, especially as sleds get more efficient on fuel. Please let us know if you have heard or know of something different. Always looking for some positive moves forward.
