The Speckled Sandperch is a master of its environment. Instead of swimming constantly, it uses its rigid pelvic fins like a tripod to sit on the sandy bottom and scan for small crustaceans. Keep an eye out for those distinctive black spots and stripes next time you're diving!"

The "Tripod" Stance: Those "legs" you see are actually modified fins that allow them to stay stationary in moving water without wasting energy.
