25 years of AI exploration in glass manufacturing.
At glasstec – International Trade Fair 2026, our CEO Alessandro Liani took the stage at the glasstec Conference to share a journey that began long before Artificial Intelligence became one of the most discussed topics in industry.

For 25 years, Video Systems has been exploring how AI, Machine Vision and advanced data analysis can solve real quality-control challenges in glass manufacturing.

The journey started with a very concrete problem: how can a vision system reliably distinguish a real defect from a reflection, an optical disturbance or a natural variation in the glass?

From those first applications, our technologies have evolved step by step: improving defect detection, reducing false rejects, supporting operators, connecting inspection data with process information and, today, moving toward increasingly advanced decision-support systems.

From inspection to information.
From information to better decisions.

This evolution has been built through years of research, field experience and close collaboration with glass manufacturers, and has been recognised through international awards, technology partnerships and industrial projects.

What today is called Industrial AI has been part of our path for 25 years.
And we are still exploring what comes next.

Accelerating industrial AI. Building the foundation for Physical AI.
At Video Systems, innovation in Artificial Intelligence has always been closely connected to real industrial challenges: improving quality, detecting defects, optimizing processes and developing increasingly advanced Machine Vision solutions.

Today, we are taking another important step forward.

Together with Lenovo, AMD and Infostar, we have built a new AI-ready infrastructure designed to accelerate the development, training and deployment of our AI models, while enabling multiple R&D projects to run in parallel.

The results are already significant:
⚙️ More than 50% reduction in AI model training time
⚙️ 30% higher availability for developers through virtual GPUs
⚙️ Greater scalability and energy efficiency for increasingly demanding AI workloads

The new infrastructure, based on Lenovo ThinkSystem SR665 V3 servers powered by AMD EPYC processors, gives our teams the computational foundation needed to accelerate the evolution of Ingenium®, our AI ecosystem for industrial quality assurance and Machine Vision.

But this is also about what comes next.

Building on more than 30 years of experience in industrial vision, automation and AI, Video Systems is advancing its research into Physical AI through SENTIO, connecting perception, reasoning and action to develop the next generation of intelligent industrial systems.

We are proud to share the full Lenovo Customer Story and the video behind this technological journey.

From industrial AI to Physical AI
strengthening the foundation for our next phase of innovation.

Video Systems has upgraded its AI infrastructure with Lenovo, AMD and Infostar, creating a more powerful and scalable environment for the development of advanced machine vision and industrial AI applications.

The new platform, based on Lenovo ThinkSystem SR665 V3 servers, AMD EPYC™ 9124 Server CPUs and NVIDIA L40S GPUs, is already delivering measurable results:

More than 50% reduction in AI model training time and 30% higher availability for developers through virtual GPUs.

This means our teams can work on more AI projects in parallel, accelerate model development and testing, and support demanding activities including machine vision training, digital twin simulations and predictive maintenance analysis.

More importantly, this infrastructure provides a stronger foundation for our next step: advancing reasoning-driven robotics and Physical AI through SENTIO.
A significant milestone in our journey to bring increasingly intelligent technologies into real-world manufacturing.

Thank you to Lenovo, AMD and Infostar for supporting this evolution.

Arcus - Continuous Glass Colour Monitoring, Container by Container

In glass production, colour variations can develop gradually between manual checks, making deviations difficult to detect before they become a process issue.

Arcus, part of the Imago® portfolio, brings colour control directly onto the production line by continuously analysing every container without contact. A high-resolution colour camera acquires colour information in real time, while automatically controlled LED illumination helps maintain stable and consistent measurement conditions.

The system compares measured values with the correct product parameters, signals deviations to line automation and stores every measurement for complete production traceability.

With 100% inline analysis, real-time deviation detection, recipe-based settings and data ready for plant-wide systems, Arcus transforms colour control from isolated measurements into continuous process visibility.

From colour measurement to continuous inline process control.

Multiple formats. One line. Always the right one.
Do you produce multiple container formats on the same line? Versus helps you select the right one.

In hollow glass production, handling different bottle formats on the same line can make product recognition and sorting a critical step.
Versus, part of the Imago® range by Video Systems, is designed to identify each container automatically and route it to the correct destination.

The system acquires the bottle profile without perspective distortion and recognizes the article by analysing its geometry, creating a reliable reference for each format.

This means:
🔹 Reliable recognition of different container formats
🔹 Faster changeovers and reduced manual adjustments
🔹 Automatic learning of new container profiles
🔹 Recipe-based product management
🔹 Automatic sorting and rejection of unrecognized articles
🔹 Real-time production statistics and data integration

And when geometry alone is not enough, an optional camera kit can distinguish containers with identical dimensions by detecting differences such as logos or notches.

From recognition to sorting, Versus helps simplify product selection directly on the production line, reducing errors and improving process continuity.
