We received this fantastic video from our guest Céline, who joined us on our Sheep Round-Up Landmannaafréttir tour.

It’s such a special experience to take part in this centuries-old Icelandic tradition, riding through the highlands and helping gather the sheep after their summer in the mountains.

Take a look and get a little taste of the adventure for yourself!

Our 2027 dates are now available to book online. Book by the end of October and take advantage of our Early Booking Discount using code early2027.

Science supports what Icelandic-horse riders have known for generations.

An international study involving 1,635 horses from 14 different breeds found that Icelandic horses received the highest reported scores for several important riding qualities. They were considered the safest and easiest to ride, the easiest to stop and the least likely to resist moving forward.

They were also reported as exceptionally approachable and confident around unfamiliar objects and other animals.

These findings reflect qualities that have been valued in Iceland for centuries: courage, reliability, willingness and the ability to carry riders safely through a challenging landscape.

Of course, every horse is an individual, and thoughtful breeding, good training and careful horse-and-rider matching remain essential.
