Ariel University students, together with their academic supervisors, represented the University at URSI GASS 2026 - the # # General Assembly and Scientific Symposium of the International Union of Radio Science, held in Kraków, Poland.

Throughout the week, members of the delegation presented their research through lectures and scientific posters, took part in professional discussions with researchers and experts from around the world, and explored some of the latest developments and technologies in radio science and wireless communications.

More than simply attending, our students and faculty were active participants in the international academic conversation. Asking questions, exchanging ideas and sharing their own research and expertise.

We’re proud to see Ariel University researchers contributing, connecting and representing the University on the global academic stage. 💙

Ariel University has launched AU Women’s Connect! A new initiative bringing international students together to build a supportive community, to share experiences, and develop activities around their interests and needs.

The first gathering explored women in academia, the challenges of being an international student, and what meaningful support looks like. Participants also learned about women’s rights and the prevention of sexual harassment in Israel, before sharing practical ideas for future meetings and activities.

The initiative reflects the commitment of Prof. Dafne Guetta, Head of Ariel University’s International Affairs Office, and Shimon Packer, Director of the International Affairs Office and Olim, to strengthening connections and a sense of belonging within our international student community.

With regular meetings and activities planned, students’ voices will help shape our community as it grows.

The Council for Higher Education has approved the opening of a six-year medical degree program at Ariel University.

In addition, approval has been granted for the launch of a Master’s degree program in Physician Associate Studies at Ariel University. A new profession representing a significant development in the world of medicine and healthcare.

Dr. Maya Lugasi Ben Hamo, Director General of the Council for Higher Education: “The shortage of physicians is one of the most significant challenges facing Israel’s healthcare system. The opening of the program will make it possible to increase the number of medical students and add dozens of new physicians to the healthcare system in each graduating class.”

The opening of the program expands the scope of medical education in Israel and is expected, over time, to increase the number of medical graduates entering Israel’s healthcare system and help address the growing need for physicians.

In addition, the Council for Higher Education has approved Ariel University’s Master’s degree program in Physician Associate Studies, the first academic program of its kind in Israel. The program represents a significant development in healthcare, and its launch marks an important step in integrating this new profession into Israel’s healthcare system.

The program is intended to help address workforce challenges in the healthcare system and expand the range of medical professionals working within it. The theoretical and clinical knowledge acquired by Physician Associates will enable them to work alongside specialist physicians within the healthcare system.

President of Ariel University, Prof. Ehud Grossman: “We view the training of the next generation of medical professionals as a national mission and a public responsibility of the highest order. The approval of these two new programs reflects confidence in the academic quality of Ariel University and enables us to expand our contribution to training outstanding medical professionals for the benefit of Israeli society.”

Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Iris Barshack: “Today is an important and significant day for Israel’s healthcare system and for the Faculty of Medicine at Ariel University. The approval of these programs marks another significant step in the development of Ariel University’s Faculty of Medicine. It is a moment of achievement and pride, but above all, one of full commitment to meaningful work for the future generation of medicine and Israel’s healthcare system.”

Ariel University was pleased to welcome a delegation from Somaliland today for discussions on future academic, medical and research cooperation.

The delegation met with Ariel University Rector Prof. Albert Pinhasov and Prof. Iris Barshack, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, together with representatives from the University’s International Affairs Department and other faculty members.

Discussions explored opportunities for future collaboration in medicine, biomedical sciences, agriculture, environmental studies, higher education and research.

Prof. Pinhasov said:
“We would be delighted to welcome talented and motivated students from Somaliland to Ariel University and to explore opportunities for meaningful academic, medical and research cooperation with partners across Somaliland.”

The visit marks a positive step towards developing long-term academic partnerships, collaborative research and stronger ties between Somaliland and Israel through education, medicine and innovation.

Ariel University recently hosted a four-day international conference bringing together researchers and experts from Israel, the Czech Republic, Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States. 🌍

The conference examined civilian fi****ms, security policy, training, classification, legislation and decision-making under pressure, while strengthening international research collaboration in this growing field.

Participants also visited communities in the Gaza envelope and Jerusalem as part of the programme.

The conference was organised by Dr Vered Ne’eman-Haviv of the Department of Criminology and Professor U*i Ben-Shalom, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities.

The organisers said:

“Our goal is to develop research that can make a real difference in Israeli society, translating knowledge into better policy, training and practice.”

Ariel University is now looking to expand international partnerships, develop new research projects and explore the establishment of a permanent research laboratory in this field.

Ariel University hosted the 4th Ariel University Conference on the Political Economy of Public Policy, bringing together researchers from Israel, Switzerland and Poland for two days of academic presentations, discussion and international exchange.

Across six academic sessions, participants explored a wide range of political and economic issues, including conflict and public policy, misinformation, sustainability, economic history, crisis regulation and contemporary international challenges.

Beyond the individual research presentations, the conference provided an important opportunity to strengthen international academic connections and encourage new research collaborations.

Research associated with the conference is also expected to contribute to a planned special issue of the European Journal of Political Economy focusing on the political economy of conflict.

Ariel University is proud to provide a platform for international academic dialogue and collaboration between researchers from Israel and abroad.

As Ariel University’s Young Leadership in Academia programme approaches its final ceremony, we are pleased to share a special message from Ambassador Ofir Akunis, Consul General of Israel in New York, to this year’s participants.

🌍 Bringing together participants from more than 16 countries, the programme encourages emerging academics to develop original ideas, strengthen their leadership skills and engage in meaningful international dialogue.

Throughout the programme, participants have been challenged to think critically, communicate their ideas and contribute their own perspectives to some of the issues shaping our shared future.
