These baby cows had just been separated from their mummies, as they were old enough to be without milk, and were being moved to another field just as we drove up the road.

The farmer asked us to stop and wait, so we did—and got to enjoy the show and have a lovely chat with him. It’s these little, unexpected moments in the Irish countryside that make a private tour so special.

I’m smiling now, grateful that we ring this bell only to remember history — but nearly two hundred years ago its sound carried a very different meaning.

🔔 Each ring of the bell on the Dunbrody Ship in New Ross carries the memory of those who left Ireland’s shores during the Great Famine — families who traded despair for a fragile hope across the Atlantic 🌊

Built in 1845, the Dunbrody was one of the few so-called “coffin ships” where compassion prevailed — out of hundreds of passengers who sailed, only nine lives were lost on her journeys to America.

Standing here on deck, with the River Barrow breeze in your face, you can almost hear the whispers of courage, loss and new beginnings.

Did you know Glendalough comes from the Irish Gleann Dá Loch, meaning “Valley of the Two Lakes”? 🇮🇪

And it’s easy to see where the name comes from. Surrounded by the Wicklow Mountains, Glendalough is famous for its two beautiful lakes, ancient monastic site, walking trails and spectacular Irish scenery.
A site with a very special energy and peaceful vibe, a must visit if you haven’t been.
