https://paypal.me/daag999 We are a registered charity - run solely by volunteers. Our aim is to help abandoned and stray animals in our community get to a place of safety and find their forever home. Home checks apply to all being rehomed. All animals rehomed are neutered and those too young will be booked and date given before leaving our care. In 2021 Deel Animal Rescue received a grant of €4,000 from the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine. The rest of our funding comes from our local community. If you can offer a loving home to an animal please contact us.

🐾❤️ MEET BOB & JAKE — TWO LITTLE BROTHERS LOOKING FOR LOVE ❤️🐾

These two gorgeous little boys are siblings and are ready to find their forever family. 🥹🏡

💙 BOB — the rounder little teddy bear! 🧸
Bob is such a sweet, calm and cuddly boy. He loves his naps, enjoys lots of affection and is generally a very good little boy who doesn’t get up to too much mischief 💕 He is simply adorable and loves being close to his humans.

🖤 JAKE — the one with the darker stripes! 🐯
Jake is the more playful and cheeky of the two. He knows what he wants and isn’t shy about letting you know! 😂 He is full of personality, loves to play and, of course, is just as affectionate and cuddly as his brother.

And the cutest thing about them?
Every morning they give each other little kisses! They are such sweet boys and absolutely love each other 💖

✨ A little bit about Bob & Jake:
🐾 Around 4 moths old
🐾 Neutered and health checked by the vet
🐾 Litter trained
🐾 Treated for parasites

These two little boys have so much love to give and are going to make someone very, very happy. ❤️

Could you be the family they have been waiting for? 🏡🥰

📩 Please get in touch if you’d like to offer Bob or Jake — or both — their forever home.

🏡 Adoption fee and home check apply.

🐾💚 A HUGE THANK YOU TO GLIN & LIMERICK! 💚🐾

What a wonderful day for Deel Sighthound Rescue! 🐕✨ Thanks to your incredible generosity, we collected €626 at our Glin Church Gate Collection and a further €104.25 at the Limerick Milk Market!

That’s a fantastic €730.25 raised in one day to help us rescue, rehabilitate and rehome sighthounds in need. Every euro helps us cover the ever-growing costs of veterinary care, kennelling, food and everything else our dogs need while waiting for their forever homes. 🐾❤️

A massive thank you to everyone who stopped to chat, dropped a few coins into our buckets, or made a donation. Your continued kindness and support mean the world to us and, most importantly, to the dogs whose lives you help change. 💚

And, of course, we couldn’t do it without our amazing volunteers! 🙌

A huge shout-out to Kathleen, Marie, Aileen, Ann Marie, Catherine, Alan, Susan and Christine, who gave up their time to support our collections today.

And special thanks to our fabulous four-legged ambassadors, Clover, our wonderful mascot, and Harper the lurcher, for helping to charm the public and spread the Deel love! 🐕💕 We suspect those adorable faces may have helped loosen a few purse strings! 😉

Finally, thank you to everyone in Glin and Limerick for continuing to support our little rescue and the beautiful dogs who depend on us.

Together, we’re making tails wag and changing lives, one sighthound at a time. 🐾💚

With love and gratitude,
The Deel Sighthound Rescue Team ❤️

BUDGET 2027: €102 MILLION FOR HORSE AND GREYHOUND RACING

The Government has increased the Horse and Greyhound Fund by €2.9 million, bringing it to €102 million in 2027. Of this, €81.6 million goes to horse racing and €20.4 million to greyhound racing, an increase of €600,000 for greyhound racing alone.

Youghal Greyhound Stadium illustrates the concern over this funding. In 2025, it had no paying customers. Although 7,524 attendances were recorded, these were owners and trainers; meetings are primarily held to provide racing content for the British broadcaster Sports Information Services (SIS). (Irish Examiner)

Despite this, Greyhound Racing Ireland spent €1.05 million acquiring the stadium in 2025: €730,000 on a legal settlement, €97,000 in legal fees and €220,000 to acquire the freehold. A further €763,903 was spent between 2020 and 2022, bringing total expenditure since 2020 to approximately €1.5 million. (The Irish Times; Greyhound Action Ireland)

Now, despite having no paying customers in 2025, a further €50,000 track-surface upgrade has been put out to tender. This is particularly striking because an Indecon review commissioned by the industry in 2019 recommended closing Youghal, describing it as loss-making, poorly attended and lacking adequate infrastructure. (Irish Examiner; Greyhound Racing Ireland)

The wider picture is equally troubling. Greyhound Racing Ireland recorded a €1.1 million pre-tax loss in 2025, despite receiving €19.8 million in State funding, while its annual report disclosed suspected fraud of approximately €60,000 at three stadiums, referred to An Garda Síochána. (RTÉ)

Meanwhile, increases for public services are far smaller: €2 million for DEIS Plus, €2 million for Town and Village Renewal, €2.9 million for the Probation Service and complex prisoner-release supports, and €1 million each for the Gaelic Players Association and Gaeltacht programmes. Funding for domestic, sexual and gender-based violence services and Cuan totals €85.3 million, less than the combined horse and greyhound racing allocation.

The industry has faced financial losses, falling attendances, welfare controversies and suspected fraud, yet State support continues to rise. Youghal is the clearest example: approximately €1.5 million spent since 2020 on a stadium with zero paying customers in 2025, followed by a proposed €50,000 upgrade.

At what point should the Government ask whether this is in the best interests of taxpayers? The continued funding of poorly attended, loss-making facilities suggests that this industry has powerful political support despite its weak public case. It is hard to escape the conclusion that this dwindling so-called sport has some very powerful friends in the corridors of Dáil Éireann.
