Wexford Library Service launched the Tiny Little Library at Wexford General Hospital SCBU to Support Families of Premature Babies.

Friday 31st July 2026 saw the launch of Tiny Little Library at the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) in Wexford General Hospital (WGH), bringing the power of stories, language and connection to some of the county's smallest and most vulnerable babies.

Tiny Little Library is an innovative partnership between Wexford Library Service and the neonatal team in SCBU at Wexford General Hospital. The initiative provides a collection of carefully selected books that parents can read aloud to their premature and hospitalised babies, helping families bond during what can be a challenging and emotional time.

Research has shown that reading and talking to babies in neonatal care can have a significant impact on their development. It can support early brain and language development while strengthening the bond between parent and baby.

The Tiny Little Library collection in Wexford SCBU will give families access to specially chosen books designed to be read aloud, creating opportunities for comfort, connection and communication from the earliest days of life. The initiative also links families with their local public library, ensuring continued access to books, resources and support after their baby returns home.

Larry Kinsella (RIP) was a well-known concertina player from County Wexford. He devised, evolved, and championed a particular system of teaching and playing. This talk gives an in-depth look at Larry's background, and the development of his system.

Well known as a musician, playing and teaching concertina in Irish traditional music for over thirty years, Pádraig Mac Aodhgáin (Patrick Egan), PhD, is a research data steward based at UCC.

Join Lesley Bond for this illustrated talk. Lesley and her partner Gordon were the first couple to embark on the six-month caretaking residency on the Great Blasket Island, one of Ireland’s most remote and historically rich locations.

With no electricity, hot water or modern conveniences, their daily existence was like nothing they had experienced, and echoes of the past remained ever-present.

Her latest book chronicles their encounters, and Lesley delves into the lives of the island’s last inhabitants and the circumstances that led to their evacuation in the 1950s.

A unique blend of personal reflection and historical context, Blasket Bound reveals how the past continues to shape the present.

Join Gorey Library to launch the Cuisle Cheoil Weekend 2026, Gorey's annual festival celebrating traditional Irish traditional music and culture. Run by Wexford Traditional Weekend CLG, a not-for-profit company set up to preserve the legacy of the hosting of Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2024/5 ,the whole weekend is an unforgettable experience filled with memorable events, talented artists, and a true sense of community.

Cuisle Cheoil Weekend is more than just a festival; it's a celebration of Irish heritage and artistic expression. We are dedicated to bringing together musicians and enthusiasts from near and far, fostering a vibrant atmosphere where traditions are honoured and new memories are made. Our commitment lies in creating a truly enriching cultural experience for everyone, local and visitor alike.

This launch will take place in Gorey Library and no booking is required.
