On Friday 26 June, Musical Neighbourhoods, The Kabin Studio & Creative Tradition came together at Dance Cork Firkin Crane for The Mixtape Showcase an evening celebrating music, creativity and community from Knocknaheeny.

Featuring over 20 performers from The Kabin Studio’s Adult Song Project and Creative Tradition’s Club Ceoil Knocknaheeny, The Mixtape Showcase celebrated the brilliant things that can happen when people are given the space, support and encouragement to get creative.

Created through weekly workshops in Knocknaheeny, the showcase brought together a mix of original songs, music, stories and performances, all made by local adults, in their own words and in their own way.

For many of the performers, their first connection with The Kabin Studio was through their children or grandchildren. They came along to support young people taking part in workshops, saw what was happening in the studio, and thought: sure, why not give it a go ourselves?

Some had never written a song. Some had never performed. Some had never held a microphone before. But week by week, they found their voices, shared their stories, tried new things and made something of their own.

And then, on 26 June, they took those songs, stories and performances to the stage at Firkin Crane.

The Mixtape Showcase was a joyful collection of music, creativity and community from Knocknaheeny a reminder of what can happen when people step into the studio, give something a go and see where it takes them.

The Mixtape Showcase was supported by , with further support from and SEEP Funding.
