The Pet Vet x Island Kennel Training proudly presents Puppy Kindergarten: Puppy Confidence Classes, starting June 2026.
Led by Sebastian Alcaraz BScPsych CPDT-KA, Lead Trainer at Island Kennel Training, this structured and supportive programme is designed to help puppies build confidence, positive social skills, and resilience during their critical socialisation period.
Through 4 weekly small-group sessions in a safe and controlled environment, puppies will learn to navigate new experiences, people, sounds, surfaces, and other dogs calmly and confidently. Owners will also gain practical skills in puppy handling, communication, reward-based training, reading body language, and supporting healthy behavioural development at home.
The programme focuses on creating positive early experiences while helping prevent fear, anxiety, and behavioural issues later in life. Topics include calm confidence building, guided introduction to new dogs and people, gentle handling for vet and grooming visits, approach to lead walking, polite greetings, settling alone, how to redirect unwanted behaviours, and more.
Classes will begin on Sunday, 7th June 2026, with small class sizes limited to 4 puppies to ensure personalised guidance and an ideal learning environment.
To help maintain a safe environment for all attendees, puppies must meet vaccination, health, and parasite prevention requirements before attending. Please see information pack for more details.

The Pet Vet 聯同 Island Kennel Training 隆重推出「幼犬自信啟蒙班」，2026年6月正式開課！
課程由 Island Kennel Training 首席訓練師 Sebastian Alcaraz（BScPsych, CPDT-KA）主理。呢個結構清晰、充滿支援嘅課程，專為處於關鍵社交期嘅幼犬而設，協助佢哋建立自信、正面社交技巧同應變能力。
透過每星期一堂共四堂嘅小班教學，喺安全同受控嘅環境中，幼犬將學習冷靜同自信地面對新體驗、陌生人、聲音、地面質感，以及其他狗狗。主人亦會學到實用技巧，包括幼犬處理、溝通方式、獎勵式訓練、解讀肢體語言，以及喺屋企支援幼犬嘅健康行為發展。
課程目標係創造正面嘅早期經驗，同時預防將來出現恐懼、焦慮或行為問題。內容包括：冷靜自信建立、引導認識新狗同新朋友、獸醫及美容探訪嘅溫和處理訓練、牽繩散步入門、禮貌打招呼、獨處安定、如何重新引導唔想要嘅行為等。
課程將於2026年6月7日（星期日）開始，每班名額只有4隻幼犬，確保每位學員都能得到個人化指導，享受理想嘅學習環境。

Heartworm prevention isn’t one-size-fits-all.
It can come as a monthly spot-on, an oral tablet, or a yearly injection, and the best option depends on your dog’s lifestyle, routine, and what’s easiest to stay consistent with.
What many pet owners don’t realise is that missed doses matter more than they think. If prevention lapses, testing may be recommended, but timing is important. Most heartworm tests only detect adult worms, which means an infection may not show up until months later.
That’s why consistency is key. Prevention is simple, but catching up isn’t always straightforward.

預防心絲蟲嘅方式，並唔係淨係得一個做法。
預防方式可以係每月滴頸、每月服用口服藥，或者每年一次嘅注射。至於揀邊種最好，就取決於狗狗嘅生活習慣、主人嘅日常流程，同埋邊種方法最易記、唔會漏!
好多寵物主人都未必知道，食漏咗嗰一、兩次嘅影響比想像中更大。一旦預防出現空窗期，就可能需要做檢測。同時，檢測嘅時機好重要——大多數心絲蟲測試都只可以檢測到成蟲，即係話感染咗之後可能要等幾個月先會驗得出已經受感染。
所以，持之以恆先至係最關鍵。預防本身好簡單，但要追返漏咗嘅部分，往往唔係咁直接。
