🌍 Advancing electrified CO₂ capture solutions with PandORA!

On 7–8 September 2026, the PandORA consortium gathered at Politecnico di Milano, Italy, for its Consortium Meeting, bringing partners together to review progress and coordinate the next steps towards cleaner industrial processes.

The meeting focused on key developments across the project's technical activities, including:

🔹 CO₂ conditioning processes
🔹 Electrified amine-based CO₂ capture
🔹 Electrified oxyfuel calcination
🔹 Techno-economic assessment and project coordination

A highlight was the visit to Politecnico di Milano's laboratory facilities, where partners gained a closer look at the experimental work supporting the project's research and technological development.

Through these activities, PandORA aims to advance electrified CO₂ capture technologies for hard-to-abate industries, exploring solutions that can be integrated into existing facilities while reducing dependence on fossil-fuel-based heat.

🔷 contributes to PandORA as Dissemination & Communication Leader, coordinating the project's communication strategy, website, social media, newsletters and outreach activities while supporting stakeholder engagement and the long-term visibility and sustainability of project results.

Smart cities are built through practical solutions that make everyday life easier, more efficient and more sustainable. 🏙️

Great to see promoting more citizen-centred and connected cities across the Mediterranean.

Smart City services are already part of everyday life. Often without us even noticing! 🏙️

🚌 Bus stops that show when the next bus is arriving
💡 Street lights that brighten when someone passes and dim when the street is empty
🅿️ Apps that guide drivers to available parking spaces
🌳 Sensors that monitor when parks and green spaces need watering
📲 Platforms where citizens can report problems directly to their municipality

Each small improvement helps save time, money and resources. Together, they make cities more liveable, efficient and sustainable.

SMARTMED supports smarter, citizen-centred cities across the Mediterranean.

🏆 A proud milestone for the STOREDGE project!

📍 As a partner of STOREDGE, we are delighted to celebrate an important scientific achievement: research developed within the project received the Best Poster Award at the 18th International Heat Transfer Conference (IHTC18) in Rio de Janeiro.

Khushwant Singh Chauhan from the University of Twente, STOREDGE’s coordinating organisation, presented the research "Multiphysics Modeling of a Moving Bed Reactor for Ca(OH)₂/CaO Thermochemical Energy Storage System."

The work explores an innovative reactor concept for thermochemical energy storage and contributes to STOREDGE’s wider goal of advancing efficient, long-duration thermal energy storage solutions for future energy systems. STOREDGE brings together partners from across Europe, with the University of Twente coordinating the project and Institute of Entrepreneurship Development (iED) participating as a partner. ✨

👏 Congratulations to Khushwant Singh Chauhan and the research team for this well-deserved recognition.
