Friends of Romania, the Guernsey-based charity, has returned from its latest aid mission to Eastern Europe.
Gary Trimbee-Lainé travelled more than 3,000 miles to deliver clothing, bedding and toiletries to Bistrița in Transylvania, passing through France, Germany, Czechia, Slovakia and Hungary. 🚗
The charity supports more than 26 sponsor families, a special needs school, and a tuberculosis clinic. Its work is made possible by donations from the Guernsey community, support from local churches, along with funding from island businesses for fuel and tolls.
Brittany Ferries continues to provide discounted travel for humanitarian shipments destined for Eastern Europe.

In the early hours, at 04:00, Islander arrives in beautiful St Peter Port — one of her six visits every week helping keep Guernsey and the Bailiwick supplied and connected.
Every sailing plays an important role in the freight supply chain, delivering food and essential goods.
Alongside this, we continue to operate regular passenger and freight services to Saint Malo with Islander and Voyager, while working with the States of Guernsey to strengthen supply links with the continent.
We’re proud to play our part in supporting the Islands every day. It’s in our DNA.

We were delighted to welcome a special guest on our sailing to Guernsey last week for the Liberation Day commemorations.
Barry Noble, appearing as Sir Winston Churchill, brought history vividly to life during this important occasion in Guernsey’s calendar.
Each year on 09 May, the Island comes together to remember and commemorate the end of the Second World War and the liberation of the Channel Islands.
The commemorations continue to echo the words spoken by Prime Minister Winston Churchill himself in 1945: ‘…and our dear Channel Islands are also to be freed today.’
Barry is pictured at the helm aboard Voyager from Poole alongside Captain Simon Bagshaw.

We were proud to, once again, support a group of Chelsea Pensioners and Gurkha Rifles soldiers who returned to the UK from Guernsey following the Island’s 81st Liberation Day commemorations.
After taking part in the Liberation Day military parade on 09 May, our honoured guests travelled to Poole, where they were warmly welcomed by the Brittany Ferries team.
The Gurkha soldiers continued onwards to Sandhurst, whilst the Chelsea Pensioners returned to the Royal Hospital Chelsea.
This continues Brittany Ferries’ long standing support of travel by veterans and active personnel to pay respects to fallen comrades and to attend commemorations.

We recently spent time in Saint-Malo with VisitGuernsey celebrating our growing links with the island 🇬🇬
Over four days at the Saint Malo Baie Mont Saint Michel Tourisme office, our team shared plenty of ideas and inspiration, helping visitors plan their next trip to Guernsey.
We spoke to more than 100 people, with lots keen to learn more about getting there, what to do and where to explore. Even better, that interest turned into bookings during the event 👀
Just two hours by ferry, Guernsey proved a big hit, with its stunning coastline, fabulous cuisine, rich history and connections to Victor Hugo inspiring plenty of future visits.
This one’s worth the extra effort 👀
