Kimberly Ince and Kavita Douglas, School of Arts and Sciences students in the Marine, Wildlife and Conservation Biology program, participated in an international internship in Ireland, researching policy solutions to support the commercial use of Sargassum seaweed and reduce coastal pollution in the Caribbean.
Through this collaboration, they gained hands-on research experience, connected with international marine scientists, and developed recommendations to support healthier oceans and more sustainable Caribbean coastlines.
🌊 Through the Our Shared Ocean programme, the Marine Institute welcomed two students from St. George's University, Grenada, to investigate how better governance can support the sustainable use of Sargassum seaweed and reduce coastal pollution in the Caribbean.
Their research highlights how international collaboration, evidence-based policy and knowledge exchange can strengthen ocean governance, support resilient blue economies, and create opportunities for the next generation of marine leaders. 🌎💙
