Alzheimer’s never has to erase the person. Behind every diagnosis is a person with a lifetime of memories, experiences, relationships and things that they love. That’s why person-centred care is so important.
🏡From familiar routines and favourite places, small personal touches can make a big difference to someone living with Alzheimer’s. Our carers take the time to understand the customer behind the diagnosis, including helping them to feel safe, valued, respected and supported at home.
💜 Because every person deserves to be cared for with expert, compassionate care. 👉 Find out more about our personalised home care at helpinghandshomecare.co.uk

Today is World Alzheimer’s Day. Sometimes, it’s the little things that make the biggest difference. For someone living with Alzheimer’s or dementia, time, kindness and companionship can mean so much.
In this video, Jenny shares her experience of the difference Helping Hands carers can make at home. 🏡
Our carers are there to listen, reassure and bring a little extra kindness to someone’s day, while helping families feel supported too. Because care isn’t just about practical support. It’s about people, compassion and helping someone feel cared for. 💜

Communication is about more than just words. For someone living with Alzheimer’s or dementia, finding the right words can sometimes be difficult. Small changes in how we communicate can make a big difference.
✨ Speak slowly and use short sentences
✨ Give them time to respond
✨ Maintain eye contact and use their name
✨ Stay calm and patient
✨ Avoid correcting or arguing
✨ Use gestures and visual cues when helpful
✨ Focus on feelings, not just facts
Most importantly, every conversation is an opportunity to help someone feel heard, respected and understood. 💜

Enjoying the moments that matter most ⛳
David’s been out at his local golf club - will it be a hole in one? 👀
At Helping Hands, we love supporting customers like David to continue the hobbies and activities they enjoy, getting out on the green, exploring their
community, and spending time doing what brings them joy.
It’s all about living well and enjoying every moment.
Living with Parkinson’s, not defined by it 💜
This , we’re celebrating Maria, one of our Helping Hands team, and journey - whose Parkinson’s is one part of her story, not what defines her.
We’re proud to support people living with Parkinson’s to continue living well, with care that adapts to their needs and champions independence every day.
