Lyth Arts Centre

If you’ve visited LAC recently, you may have spotted the beautiful work of artist James Gladwell on our walls.

Exhibited as part of Hidden Voices – Hidden Lives, James’ exhibition brings together his distinctive cross-stitched drawings, exploring people, place and the stories held within them.

A huge thank you to James for sharing his work with us — the exhibition is still up at LAC, so if you are attending an LAC event in the near future, make sure to have a gander...

Here are a few images from the exhibition 👇

Earlier this month, Hidden Voices – Hidden Lives brought people together at Lyth Arts Centre and Castlehill Heritage Centre for a weekend of stories, memories, traditions and voices that aren’t always given the opportunity to be heard. 🫶

From Nawken stories and traditional skills to film, art and conversations about whose stories become part of our shared history, it was a really special weekend — and hopefully just the beginning.

We’ve put together a short blog looking back at the weekend, with some wonderful photos from across the events.
