Talking to a pupil about their wellbeing can feel daunting, particularly when you are unsure what to say or worried about hearing something concerning.
Our latest guide reminds educators that they do not need to be specialists to provide meaningful support.
The guide explores:
• Building warm, trusting relationships
• Choosing a safe and appropriate place to talk
• Using side-by-side conversations to reduce pressure
• Staying calm when a pupil shares a concern
• Being clear and honest about confidentiality
• Knowing when to involve safeguarding colleagues or seek support yourself
It also includes practical conversation starters to help staff open discussions gently and give pupils space to talk when they are ready.

➕Our Year 10 learners have been developing their mathematical skills by learning how to change the subject of a formula. Learners worked collaboratively to complete questions on the Smart Board, sharing ideas and supporting one another throughout the task.
➖One learner confidently modelled a question to the rest of the class before everyone moved on to independent work. This provided a great opportunity to develop confidence and celebrate learners taking the initiative to get involved.
✖️Throughout the lesson, learners demonstrated excellent teamwork, collaboration and problem-solving skills, while building their confidence in coming to the front of the classroom and having a go at challenging tasks. It was fantastic to see learners supporting each other and becoming more confident in their mathematical abilities.

🌿 Sukkot
Today marks the first day of Sukkot, a Jewish autumn harvest festival that begins five days after Yom Kippur.
Also known as the Feast of Tabernacles or Feast of Booths, Sukkot is traditionally celebrated for seven days. It commemorates the 40 years the Israelites spent living in temporary shelters during their journey through the desert after leaving Egypt.
We love learning more about different histories, cultures and traditions, and sharing this knowledge with our school community.
Wishing all those celebrating Sukkot a meaningful and joyful festival. 🌿✨

Discord gives young people a space to chat, play games and join communities based around shared interests.
While it can be a positive way to connect with friends, there are also important risks for parents and educators to understand.
Our latest guide highlights:
• Contact with strangers
• Harassment and harmful behaviour
• Exposure to inappropriate content
• Gaming and socialising becoming a distraction
• Spending and subscription risks
It also shares practical advice on using Discord’s Family Centre, reviewing privacy and spending settings, talking openly about suspicious behaviour and agreeing clear expectations around screen time.
