Welcome to Eoghan Rua page! Eoghan Rua CLG is a GAA club in the Triangle area covering Coleraine, Portstewart and Portrush. Our ground, Pairc Eoghain Rua, is located at Cappaghmore, on the outskirts of Portstewart. The grounds were officially opened in 2009 by Tom Daly, then President of Ulster GAA. Eoghan Rua operates over twenty teams in gaelic football, hurling and camogie from fundamentals (U-6) through to adult level. We compete in the Derry league and Championship, and in hurling and camogie we compete in the Ulster League. In addition our senior and minor hurlers play in the North Antrim hurling leagues. We have an active Cultural programme offering Irish language classes, traditional music and Irish Dancing (McNicholl School). We host regular cultural events to celebrate events such as St Patrick’s Day, when we hold a concert and céili and the Feat of St Brigid when we make St Brigid’s Crosses. The Club enjoys tremendous support among the local GAA community. In 2010 our Senior footballers won our first Derry Senior Championship, truly marking our arrival in Derry Senior Football. In the same year the Senior camogs win the Derry and Ulster Championship, going on to win the All Ireland Intermediate in Croke Park.

Disappointment for Eoghan Rua's senior footballers as they went down to a narrow 0-16 to 1-11 defeat to Greenlough in the Intermediate championship semi-final at Owenbeg.
ER struggled throughout the first half to gain possession but were still well in the game at the break only behind 0-7 to 0-4. Niall Loughlin with three points from frees just kept Greenlough ahead in that first period.
The sides traded points throughout the third quarter as Greenlough still led by three 0-11 to 0-8, a super Paddy Mullan save keeping ER just in touch. Ten minutes from time a good move through the middle put Liam McGoldrick in space to blast to the net to level matters.
However Greenlough hit back almost immediately with two long range two-pointers, followed by a point to lead by five,
0-16 to 1-8, going into the last minutes of the game.
In added time ER battled back with three points in a row. In a goal mouth scramble ER saw the ball come off a post when a goal was needed. Then in the last minute another attack was thwarted with Greenlough just hanging on for the win.
ER scorers: Liam McGoldrick (1-0), Dara Mooney (0-3f), Aidan McGonigle (0-3), Lorcan McMullen, Ciaran McGoldrick (f), Liam Ferris, Niall Holly and Pearse
McGonigle (0-1 each).

Eoghan Rua's senior footballers eased into the semi-final of the Intermediate championship following their 2-21 to 1-17 win over Drumsurn in Celtic Park earlier this afternoon.
ER scorers: Niall Holly (1-5, 2x2p), Dara Mooney (0-7, 2p, 2f), Lorcan McMullen (1-1), Liam McGoldrick (0-3), a Ciaran McGoldrick (0-2), Aidan McGonigle (0-2), Sean Leo McGoldrick (0-1).
After a slow start ER led 0-6 a to 0-2 by the 16th minute, two-pointers from Niall Holly and Dara Mooney along with a point blank save by Paddy Mullan the highlights. Another Niall Holly two-pointer and a second super save from Paddy Mullan paved the way for ER to lead 0-9 to 0-2 twenty minutes in. ER continued their good spell as the returning Liam McGoldrick (on early following an injury to Colm McGoldrick) and Aidan McGonigle added points. A brilliant passing move saw the ball transferred forward quickly for Lorcan McMullen to blast to the net in the 28th minute while Dara Mooney added a point as ER went in comfortably ahead 1-13 to 0-5 at the break.
Dara Mooney added three points in a row while Liam McGoldrick tapped over another but Drumsurn responded with a couple of two-pointers of their own to leave ten between the sides by the third quarter. ER were still well in command, 1-20 to 0-11, going into the last ten minutes. Drumsurn then hit a couple of two-pointers to leave eight in it but when Niall Holly blasted to the net in the 58th minute any hope of a dramatic Drumsurn comeback was ended.
A late flurry of Drumsurn scores, including a goal from a free, served only to put a slightly flattering look on the scoreboard as ER saw out the win.
