Community Energy Wales wants to put sustainable energy schemes at the heart of communities in Wales.

Mae Ynni Cymunedol Cymru am roi cynlluniau ynni cynaliadwy wrth wraidd cymunedau yng Nghymru. Communities can become stronger, more resilient and self-reliant by generating their own energy, using it efficiently and directing the net income to regenerate their communities. Community Energy Wales is a membership based organisation that will help bring about this change by inspiring, empowering and influencing people policies and practices across Wales. We bring together a network of practitioners to work with and within the communities of Wales to develop and grow more renewable energy generation and energy efficiency schemes. We are a voice for communities who want to act now, and we provide the necessary educational, practical and financial support for communities to own and/or operate renewable energy installations and energy efficiency schemes.

Adeiladu Cymunedau Ynni ⚡🏘️ | Building Energy Communities ⚡🏘️ (Scroll down for English)

Mae cymunedau ynni yn grwpiau o bobl sy’n cydweithio’n lleol neu’n rhithwir i gynhyrchu, defnyddio a chadw cymaint â phosibl o’u trydan a’u gwres eu hunain drwy wella effeithlonrwydd ynni cartrefi 💡, cynhyrchu preifat megis paneli solar ☀️, a chynhyrchu sy’n cael ei berchenogi gan y gymuned.

Mae ein chwaer‑sefydliad YnNi Teg yn gweithio tuag at y nod hwn gyda Ynni Sir Gar drwy Fodel Ynni Lleol Deallus Ynni Dyfed 🔧🌱.

⬇️⬇️⬇️

Energy communities are groups of people who work together locally or virtually to generate, use and conserve as much of their own electricity and heat as possible through home efficiency 💡, private renewables such as solar ☀️, and community‑owned generation.

Our sister organisation, Ynni Teg, is working towards this with Ynni Sir Gâr through the Ynni Dyfed Smart Local Energy Model 🔧🌱.

Adeiladu Cyfoeth Cymunedol | Community Wealth Building

Yn ein blog diweddaraf, mae ein Cyd-Gyfarwyddwr Gweithredol, Leanne Wood yn tynnu sylw at bwyntiau trafod hollbwysig ynghylch perchnogaeth gymunedol ac adeiladu cyfoeth cymunedol, yn seiliedig ar drafodaeth banel yng nghynhadledd ddiweddar Cwmpas, 'Cymunedau'n Creu Cartrefi'.

Cynhadledd Flynyddol Aelodau Community Energy Scotland’s Annual Member’s Conference (scroll down for English)

Bu i aelodau o dîm YCC fynychu Cynhadledd Flynyddol Aelodau Ynni Cymunedol yr Alban (CES) yr wythnos hon yn Glasgow. Bu’n gyfle gwerthfawr iawn i archwilio’r heriau a’r cyfleoedd cyffredin sy’n wynebu ein sectorau yng Nghymru a’r Alban.

Un o’r cyflwyniadau mwyaf trawiadol oedd ar Looped in Rossendale, sy’n defnyddio dolen gwres amgylchynol wedi’i bweru gan dwll turio i ddarparu gwres carbon isel i dai teras gan allluogi gosod mewn ardaloedd trefol dwys.

Ymunodd Dave Gittings, ein Rheolwr Datblygu Busnes, â gweithdy ar adeiladau cymunedol. Roedd yn ddiddorol clywed bod llawer o sefydliadau yn yr Alban wedi wynebu heriau sylweddol — a chostau — dim ond i sefydlu perchnogaeth adeiladau cymunedol cyn i brosiectau adnewyddu allu dechrau. Tynnodd sesiwn arall ar rwydweithiau gwres sylw at gymaint o reoleiddio sy’n y sector. Gan fod gweithredwyr rhwydweithiau gwres yn dod yn gyflenwyr monopoli unwaith y bydd cwsmeriaid wedi’u cysylltu, mae sicrhau parhad o gyflenwad, safonau uchel o wasanaeth cwsmeriaid a phrisio teg yn hollbwysig.

Roedd hefyd yn wych cael cyfle i ddal i fyny gyda chydweithwyr o Community Energy Scotland i gymharu profiadau ar rai o’r heriau a’r cyfleoedd mwyaf sy’n wynebu’r sector ynni cymunedol ar hyn o bryd.
Mae’r sgyrsiau hyn bob amser yn amhrisiadwy ar gyfer rhannu dysgu ac adnabod syniadau newydd a all gryfhau ein gwaith yn ôl yng Nghymru.

Members of the CEW team attended Community Energy Scotland’s Annual Member’s Conference in Glasgow this week. This was a really valuable opportunity to explore the shared challenges and opportunities facing our sectors in both Wales and Scotland.

One of the standout presentations was on Looped in Rossendale Valley Energy, which uses an ambient heat loop powered by boreholes to provide low carbon heating to terraced homes, enabling deployment in dense urban areas.

Dave Gittins, joined a workshop focused on community buildings. It was interesting to hear that many organisations in Scotland have faced significant challenges, and costs, simply establishing ownership of community buildings before retrofit projects can begin. A further session on heat networks highlighted just how highly regulated the sector is. Given that heat network operators effectively become monopoly suppliers once customers are connected, ensuring continuity of supply, high standards of customer service and fair pricing is absolutely critical.

It was also great to catch up with colleagues from Community Energy Scotland to compare notes on some of the biggest challenges and opportunities currently facing the community energy sector. These conversations are always invaluable for sharing learning and identifying new ideas that can help strengthen our work back in Wales.

Coming Together | Dod at ein Gilydd

Cynhaliodd timau Ynni Cymunedol Cymru ac Ynni Teg gyfarfod strategol yn Nghanolfan y Dechnoleg Amgen, Machynlleth yr wythnos hon i ddatblygu cynlluniau ar gyfer cydweithio agosach yn ein cenhadaeth ar y cyd i dyfu ynni cymunedol yng Nghymru 🌱

Mae ynni cymunedol yn cynnig dewis amgen grymus wrth i ni symud tuag at system ynni wyrdd ac at gyrraedd sero net. Roedd hwn yn gyfle i ni ganolbwyntio ar sicrhau bod ein systemau cefnogi — boed hynny ar gyfer tyfu’r sector neu ddarparu’r gefnogaeth ymarferol gywir — ar eu mwyaf effeithiol ac wedi’u cydweddu’n effeithiol rhwng ein dwy sefydliad.

Roedd yn ysbrydoliaeth i’r ddau dîm allu dod ynghyd yn y lleoliad eiconig a hardd hwn, ac i rai ohonom fwynhau’r cyfle i ymweld â safle Bro Dyfi Community Renewables uwchlaw’r Ganolfan, sy’n gartref i’w tyrbin gwynt Vestas a’u parc solar newydd ei osod 🌬️☀️

Both Community Energy Wales and Ynni Teg teams held a strategy meeting at the Centre for Alternative Technology in Machynlleth this week to develop plans for closer collaboration in our joint mission to grow community energy in Wales.

Community energy offers a powerful alternative in the transition to a green energy system, and in reaching net zero. This was a chance for us to focus on ensuring that our support systems — both for growing the sector and providing the right practical support — are optimised between our two organisations.

It was inspiring for both teams to come together at this iconic and beautiful location, and some of us also enjoyed the opportunity to visit the BRO DYFI COMMUNITY RENEWABLES LIMITED site above the Centre, which hosts their Vestas wind turbine and recently installed solar park 🌬️☀️
