This World Menopause Day, we’re shining a light on the role of lifestyle medicine in supporting women through perimenopause, menopause and beyond.

The everyday habits we build can make a meaningful difference to our health, wellbeing and quality of life.

Nourish your body with balanced, nutrient-rich foods to support energy, bone health and overall wellbeing.

Keep moving with activities you enjoy, including strength training and weight-bearing exercise to support muscle and bone health.

Prioritise restorative sleep and create a calming bedtime routine to support rest and recovery.

Make space for stress management through mindfulness, relaxation, time outdoors or simply taking a moment for yourself.

Put your wellbeing first. Listen to your body, seek support when you need it and remember that you don’t have to navigate menopause alone.

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to menopause. Small, realistic changes, alongside the right professional support, can help you feel more informed and empowered throughout this stage of life.

💡 Have you seen the light?
There’s a little club at the clinic…
The ones who have discovered Dermalux Tri-Wave MD.

They come back.
They talk about it.
They notice their skin.
And they very rarely want to give it up. 👀

Once you’ve seen the light, you understand.
If you’re already in the club, you know exactly what we mean. 🤍

If you’re not…
What are you waiting for?

We spend so much of our time in “doing mode”: responding, creating, achieving and staying switched on.

But recovery does not begin when your head hits the pillow. It begins with the transition you create before it.

Some people need to release physical tension.
Some need to quiet the noise in their mind.
Some need support shifting from exhaustion into recovery.

Discover the experience that matches the way you switch off.

From doing → to being.

Understanding the signals that guide your sleep-wake cycle.

Your body is constantly responding to signals that help regulate when you feel awake and when you feel sleepy.

Light helps set your body clock.

Adenosine contributes to the build-up of sleep
pressure while you’re awake.

Melatonin rises in darkness and helps signal biological night.

Cortisol follows a daily rhythm and helps support alertness, particularly around waking.

Together, these systems help coordinate your sleep-wake cycle.

Understanding them can help you work with your biology, supporting good sleep through consistent routines, appropriate light exposure, daytime activity and a regular sleep schedule.

Before you optimise your sleep, make sure you’ve got the foundations right.

Good sleep isn’t simply about the number of hours you spend in bed. Duration, regularity and timing all play a role.

For most adults, 7-9 hours of sleep per night is a useful general guide, although individual sleep needs vary.

It’s also worth looking beyond your sleep tracker. If you’re regularly struggling to wake, feeling sleepy during the day, finding it difficult to concentrate or relying heavily on caffeine to get through the day, it may be worth looking more closely at your sleep.

Consistency matters too. Keeping your sleep and wake times reasonably regular can help support your body’s sleep-wake rhythm.

Before adding another device, supplement or sleep intervention, ask yourself:

Am I giving myself enough time to sleep?

Is my sleep-wake schedule reasonably consistent?

Am I supporting my body clock with appropriate light and daily routines?

The basics aren’t always the most exciting part of health optimisation, but they’re often the place to start.

Get the foundations right. Then personalise.

If persistent sleep difficulties are affecting your health, wellbeing or daytime functioning, speak with your GP or an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.
