The Welsh Blood Service organises the collection, testing, processing and distribution of blood. We rely entirely on voluntary donors to maintain supplies to Welsh hospitals.

On the morning of 21 October 1966, a colliery spoil tip collapsed onto Pantglas Junior School and neighbouring homes in , claiming the lives of 144 people, including 116 children.

The impact of that day was felt far beyond the village itself and continues to resonate deeply across Wales, the United Kingdom and around the world.

Six decades on, communities across Wales continue to remember those who lost their lives and all those whose lives were changed forever by the tragedy.

To mark this anniversary, we will join the nation to observe a minute's silence at 9:15am.
