NORTH HUB AND NEW LEAF LIVING WELL DAY CENTRES IN SOUTHPORT ATTENDS EVENT AT THORNTON COLLEGE
The North Hub and New Leaf was invited by Sian Mitchel, who oversees the students who are in their final year of college.
During the event, the team had the opportunity to speak with students and their parents and provide information about the support and opportunities available at the North Hub and New Leaf. By sharing photographs of the various activities on offer, it gave the students and families a visual insight into opportunities available within the services and how individuals can be supported to take part in meaningful activities.
The team discussed how individuals are supported to develop their independence, build confidence, socialise with others, explore their interests, and become more involved in their local community.
Thank you to Thornton College for the refreshments and lovely cakes that were available to us all throughout the evening.
From Kath Boden deputy manager, Sam our volunteer (who also attended the event with us) Stuart Heffy and Joanne Yates.
Well done to all the team for proudly representing North Hub.πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ˜ƒ

WEAR IT PINK - MACMILLAN FUNDRAISING EVENT AT WATERLOO PARK
Our wonderful older people's day centre, Waterloo Park held their annual MacMillan fundraising event on Thursday 8 October.
Those who attend and our colleagues together donate and gather lots of great prizes to raise invaluable funds to support cancer charities. Lots of fun and laughs were had, whilst supporting this very important cause.
Waterloo Park is still receiving donations, so will announce their overall amount in the next few weeks. The amount raised so far is Β£630, with money still rolling in.
The funds will be split between the MacMillan Cancer Charity and Wear it Pink Breast Cancer Charity.
Francey Deaves, Activity Lead said β€œWe are so pleased with the turn out and the generosity of friends and family of Waterloo Park, and want to say one big thank you!”
If you would like to send a little contribution, contact Michelle Colleran, manager of Waterloo Park at [email protected]πŸ‘πŸ˜ƒπŸŽ‰
Congratulations to you all at Waterloo Park, you make New Directions so proud.

Thornton College Moving On Event 7 October 2026
We were delighted to be invited by Sian to attend Thornton College’s Moving On Event on 7 October 2026.
It was a real pleasure to meet and chat with new potential supported people, hearing about their aspirations, and discussing the opportunities and support available to them as they consider their next steps into adulthood and greater independence.
It was also lovely to bring along our Service Ambassadors, and some former students of the college. They were able to share their own experiences and talk about all the fantastic opportunities, activities and support available at our centre. Having our Ambassadors at the event to to speak first-hand about their journeys and the positive impact the service can have was particularly special.
Events like this are so valuable in building relationships and raising awareness of what we offer in helping young people and their families feel confident about the next stage of their journey.
A big thank you to Sian and the team at Thornton College for inviting us and providing such a welcoming opportunity to connect with young people, share experiences and look forward to the exciting futures ahead.
From Nikki Ferguson, service manager, Ambassadors and Team members
Well done to you all.

WHAT A PERFORMANCE, WHAT A SHOW!
I was so privileged to have attended the performance of our wonderful New Centre Stage performers, who were finalists at the Care Sector's Got Talent competition on Wednesday 7 October at the NEC in Birmingham.
The cast of 8 highly talented artists opened the show with a musical medley from W***y Wonker, which sent the audience wild, with standing ovations!!
The competition was fierce, with lots of other artists from around the care sector. Whilst New Centre Stage didn't win this year, they did New Directions proud, not only with their amazing performance, but their professionalism and friendliness with all the other competitors who were from lovely organisations across the country.
We are all so proud of you all. Keep doing what you do,πŸ‘―πŸ‘πŸ‘―πŸŽ‰πŸ₯° fabulous people!

GREAT THINGS OVER THE SUMMER
Our New Leaf Garden Centre in Southport held a very successful summer fayre.
The band of talented gardeners and creative crafters spent months preparing for the fayre to present an array of beautiful plants, garden and household items to sell. All their hard work paid off as their fayre was a great success, receiving lots of visitors and customers. Well done to everyone at New Leaf.

WATERLOO PARK REMINISCE ABOUT THEIR JOBS AND CAREERS!
The gang at Waterloo Park enjoyed a fascinating afternoon, talking about their jobs and careers when they were younger. Learning more about each other's lives before everyone met was so interesting. Our ladies and gents spoke with pride as they remembered their working days.
