A Date for Your Diary!
As we head towards the end of British Summertime and prepare to move the clocks back, IDLE AC are proud to support the 2026 Let’s Lift the Curfew campaign 💪✨
We’ll be hosting a special run on Thursday 29th October in support of this important initiative — a campaign promoting a safer environment for women to engage in physical activity, especially during the darker months.
The Let’s Lift the Curfew campaign has been shining a light on women’s stories and concerns about getting active outdoors as the nights draw in. It also calls on all of us — as a community — to play our part in making outdoor activity safer and more inclusive for women.
We encourage all women runners in our community to join us for a supportive, safe, and welcoming event 🏃♀️💜
📢 More details to follow soon — watch this space!

IDLE AC TRIG POINT CHALLENGE 2026
Sunday 11th October 2026
Fourteen of IDLE AC's finest gathered on a beautiful, bright Yorkshire morning for our annual Trig Point Challenge – a race where tactics, local knowledge, determination and a little bit of luck can make all the difference!
Runners set off from our HQ on Westfield Lane and must navigate their own way to Baildon trig point and back.
With clear blue skies and a crisp 9°C, conditions were almost perfect for running. The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement, nervous anticipation and the usual friendly banter.
The big question on everyone's lips?
"Who actually knows the best route?"
It's a handicap event, with runners setting off at staggered times, carefully calculated to give everyone a fighting chance of crossing the finish line first.
As the runners set off, thirteen headed down Westfield Lane towards Thackley Corner.
But not Ben.
Oh no. Ben had other ideas and decided to head down High Busy Lane instead.
Was this a tactical masterstroke?
Only time would tell!
Meanwhile, Dan,
"I've just been on an all-inclusive holiday!"
fresh from smashing out a fantastic 37-minute 10K PB, had been handed the honour of starting last.
Up at the halfway point, the ever-reliable Tony was on marshalling duties, making sure everyone reached the trig point safely and received some much-needed refreshments.
Tony was also providing valuable race intelligence back to HQ.
His first report?
"Coach Pete is FLYING!"
Then came news that Mark B and Mark F were running neck and neck.
Fantastic racing!
There was just one small problem...
Tony was convinced the two Marks had set off in completely the wrong direction on the return leg!
Did he intervene?
Absolutely not!
He simply watched, chuckled to himself and let the drama unfold.
Paul, running strongly and looking good for the finish, arrived at the canal swing bridge.
Unfortunately, the bridge had other ideas.
IT WAS OPEN!
With no option but to wait, Paul could only watch precious seconds ticking away.
And who was rapidly closing the gap?
None other than Coach Pete!
The unexpected delay gave Pete the opportunity he needed to reel Paul back in.
Suddenly, what had looked like a comfortable run to the finish was turning into a proper nail-biter!
Back at race HQ, the excitement was building.
Then, in the distance, two figures appeared.
Two IDLE AC vests.
Charging up Westfield Lane.
Side by side.
IT WAS PAUL AND COACH PETE!
Both runners dug deep, giving absolutely everything as they powered towards the line.
But it was PAUL who found that little bit extra, holding off Coach Pete to take a brilliant victory!
Pete followed home in a fantastic second place after a tremendous effort.
And completing our podium was the brilliant Coach Donna, storming home to claim third!

Update ;
We've had a fantastic response and have already welcomed 2 new runners to the team.
NB If you are not registered with England Athletics (the sport's governing body,) you can still join the team but there is an additional fee of £23 which goes to EA.
Looking for a winter racing challenge?
Are you a member of a running club registered with England Athletics that doesn't compete in the West Yorkshire winter league?
You can join IDLE AC as an additional club and race with us in the league - without any conflict with your main club, as long as it isn't a league member.
It's a brilliant chance to enjoy cross country racing, meet new people and be part of a friendly supportive team throughout winter.
No previous experience is needed - the league is very beginner friendly, and you don't have to be a great runner to take part. With runners ages from 18 to 80, there's a place for everyone!
The details:
Each race is approx 5 miles, with six races in the series held from November to January. Registration costs £6 to IDLE AC, plus £20 to the winter league for the full series. Registering does not commit you to running all 6 races, each one is voluntary.
Interested ?
Send us a Facebook message to find out more. We'd love to welcome you.
