I always make the groom's buttonhole a little more special than all the rest.

My buttonholes come in a presentation tray/box/basket. They are labelled and have little notes to help you remember which side to wear them on. And if the chaps are ready when we arrive, we help to pin them all on and calm a few nerves.

I had a lovely email on Sunday from one of my recent wedding couples with some kind words that really made my heart sing. Abi said that the flowers were everything they dreamed of and I perfectly captured their vision.

Even after all this time, I still worry that I've understood what's needed. That I've interpreted colour and style and captured the vibe. I hold my breath when I deliver a bridal bouquet till I see the bride smile. I have sleepless nights in the run up to a wedding. I look at inspiration photos over and over and compare with my floral recipes and order lists. To know that I've captured a vision and made a couple happy is just the best feeling in the world.

And autumn weddings are my absolute favourite. These photos are so beautiful. Capturing not just the warmth and welcoming space of the venue and decor, but the glowing happiness of the couple and their guests. I love it when my couples share their photos with me. It feels like the icing on the best cake ever.
