Montgomery Primary School

On Thursday we took 14 pupils from our Year 5/6 Tag Rugby club to the first T1 Rugby Festival of the year, hosted at Exeter Saracens RFC 🏉

It was a day filled with fun rugby-related activities and matches which gave a good opportunity for our pupils to continue developing their Tag Rugby skills in an inclusive way

Well done to all our players who showed our school values of passion, teamwork, respect and determination throughout the event. A special congratulations to our award winners of the day:

SportyStars Stars of the Day: Beñat & Inci Arya 🏅

Exeter Primary Football League is back!

And this year it’s BIGger and better than ever, thanks to the new sponsor THE BIG STEP

The under-11 primary school football competition returns to action for its 11th year with the 2026/27 campaign set to kick-off this Monday. This season sees a record 30 teams participate, split across 4 groups (3 competitive and 1 development) with each team playing their opponents 2-3 times across the league season (depending on group).

Huge thanks to The Big Step for ‘stepping’ in to sponsor this season and ensure that the league remains completely FREE for all of it’s 23 member schools from Exeter and the surrounding areas 👏 especially helpful considering the recent cuts to school PE funding and the fact that up until now the league resources and organisation have been funded for the benefit of all teams solely by Montgomery since 2019 (formerly by Wynstream since the leagues creation by Mr Holding in 2014).

You can keep up to date with all things in ‘The Big Step’ EPFL 26/27 by checking out our brand new web page at epfl.grassrootsdna.com for latest results and standings. You can also find out more about The Big Step Year 6-7 Transition Programme by visiting our web pages, thebigstep.org or following them on socials

Happy Sunday everyone!!!!! Just a reminder it is Hello Yellow Day tomorrow!!! Be as bright and yellow as you can! It can be something small like an accessory or the whole outfit, You can also bring something to dress your teacher with!! Which teacher will end up the most yellow!! Xx

Year 4 had an amazing visit from Animals 2 U today as part of our science topic. We held hissing cockroaches, leaf bugs, mice and a bearded dragon!

Dear Montgomery Year 6 leavers,

We are so proud of you and cannot believe how quickly the time has flown — from your first days at Monty to the confident, thoughtful young people you have grown into. As you begin the next exciting step and start secondary school on Monday, everyone here sends you our warmest wishes.
You will be a fantastic asset to your new schools. You are curious, resilient and kind — you carry the Heart of Monty values with you: Determination, Honesty, Passion, Respect, Self‑Belief and Teamwork. These will help you make new friends, meet new challenges and enjoy lots of new opportunities.
Be brave, be curious and don’t be afraid to try new things. Remember that everyone at Montgomery are cheering you on — we know you will do brilliantly. We look forward to hearing about your adventures, successes and all the things you discover next.
Good luck on tomorrow and every day after that. You will be missed, but you will always be part of the Monty family.
With every good wish for the future.

Katrina Way
