π» As spooky season approaches make sure to take care with costumes and decorations - particularly around candles and open flames π
Candles, costumes and Halloween decorations can be a dangerous combination.
Use a torch or battery candles in pumpkins rather than candles.

Full council regeneration highlights from yesterday include positive updates from Moray Council's popular m.connect bus service, the Cooper Park masterplan moving to its next phase, and Levelling Up Funding being redirected to support the Gordon Arms project ππ¬
The m.connect bus service, is continuing to transform public transport across Moray. The approved Phase 3 of the programme will focus on strengthening data and analysis and planning tools needed to support future network growth, while maintaining services that are already connecting communities across the region ππ£
Moray Council has also approved a draft Cooper Park masterplan to enable the Elgin Neighbourhood Board to move to the next phase, which includes public consultation to help lead further investment in Cooper Park to enhance its role as a destination park π³π²

π£ Full Council highlights: investment, opportunities and keeping more wealth in Moray
Councillors have backed a number of key decisions today aimed at investing in our communities, supporting families and strengthening Morayβs economy.
π Backing regeneration ambitions
Full Council has backed funding bids to support major regeneration projects for the Moray Athletics Hub and St Giles Centre site, helping progress ambitions for investment in Elgin and Moray.
π· Keeping more wealth local
Councillors approved an update to our Community Wealth Building Strategy. Key public sector partners are being invited to join a partnership, looking at how spending, land, buildings and other resources can do more to support local businesses, jobs, skills and communities.
π§ Β£1.6 million for after-school activities
Moray has also secured Β£1.6 million from the Scottish Government for a new pilot making after-school activities more accessible and affordable for primary school children. Starting in Buckie and Forres, the programme will particularly support families experiencing, or at risk of, poverty, while helping parents and carers access work, training or additional working hours.
Together, these decisions are about investing in Morayβs places, people and future.

Further update on swimming pool fire at Keith Sports & Community Centre
We can confirm that the swimming pool at Keith Sports and Community Centre will reopen on Friday 2 October, following the fire at the facility on Sunday 27 September.
The fitness room, circular meeting room and sports hall reopened today, Wednesday 30 September, and are operating as normal.
The pool hall, water and changing rooms are being cleaned and prepared for reopening, while the steam room and sauna will remain closed as fire-damaged materials are removed and smoke-affected areas are cleaned.
With the affected area sealed off from the main pool hall, the swimming pool can reopen safely while the remaining work is completed.
The standard swimming timetable, including public swimming and lessons, will resume as normal from Friday.
Weβd like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding while the necessary work has been carried out.

π± Moray schools are getting climate ready!
Pupils and teachers are helping create greener school grounds with more native trees, hedges, meadows and ponds.
The Climate Ready Schools project will give children more opportunities to learn and play outdoors, create new habitats for wildlife and help schools cope with our changing climate. π³π
Trees and hedges can provide shade during hot weather, shelter from high winds and help manage water during heavy rain.
Work at the first five schools starts this autumn, with pupils getting stuck into planting days in November and December. A further three schools are also in the works.
Weβre sharing the project for Climate Week Scotland 2026 to show how practical changes today can help make our schools more resilient for the future. π
