We are delighted to introduce Dr Claire Barber, the second UK artist selected for Connecting Threads 2027, a residency developed in collaboration between Artcore, Derby, and Space Studio, Baroda.
Working at the intersection of textiles, sound and materiality, Claire explores how materials hold traces of experience and create new ways of encountering a place. Her practice brings together experimental making, sculpture and installation, with a growing interest in textile-based objects that generate sound.
During her residency in Baroda, Claire hopes to explore the city through walking, listening and engaging with its materials and landscapes. These encounters, alongside conversations and exchanges with fellow artists, will become a starting point for new experiments in sculpture, stitch and sound.
We look forward to welcoming Claire to Baroda and seeing how these experiences shape new directions in her practice.

Continuing Artcoreβs commitment to fostering international artistic connections, we are delighted to welcome The Fifty-One Percent, an international collective of four women artists β Fi Marks, Susan Gardner, Jela PranΔiΔ, and Paula Telizyn β for their upcoming exhibition, The Wild Within.
Bringing together painting, mixed media, atmospheric sound, light, and interactive elements, the exhibition invites audiences to experience art beyond the conventional gallery setting.

We are delighted to introduce Savinder Bual, one of the two UK artists selected for Connecting Threads 2027, an Artcore residency at Space Studio, Baroda, India
Working across sculpture, sound and installation, Savinder explores the relationship between movement, materials and the forces of nature. Her kinetic sculptures draw on traditional crafts, everyday objects and overlooked technologies, inviting moments of play, curiosity and contemplation. With an internationally exhibited practice, Savinder brings a particular interest in responding to the histories, communities and ecologies of a place.
We look forward to welcoming her to Baroda and seeing how her practice unfolds through new encounters, materials and conversations during the month-long residency.

As part of The Wild Within, Susan Gardner brings her unique perspective on the natural world to Artcore Gallery.
Through her contemporary wildlife practice, Susan explores the beauty, character and spirit of the animals that share our world. Her work encourages us to slow down, look closer and reconnect with the wild β celebrating nature while inviting us to consider our relationship with it.

In this video, we hear directly from the artist Jela Prancic about her creative practice and the ideas that shape her work.
Through bold, layered collage, found imagery and unexpected combinations of people, animals, nature and text, her work invites us to pause and look again β uncovering connections, emotions and stories beneath the surface.
As part of The Wiled Within, her work offers another perspective on the themes explored throughout the exhibition: identity, strength, belonging and our relationship with the world around us.
