The lowdown on testicular cancer- Scotland’s Testicular Cancer Education and Awareness Charity

Photos from Cahonas Scotland's post 25/09/2026

A huge thank you to the brilliant Police Scotland Renfrewshire & Inverclyde recruits from Probationer Training Course 01/26, who chose Cahonas Scotland as their charity and raised over £13,000

Throughout their 15-week training programme at the Scottish Police College, Tulliallan, the recruits organised a fantastic range of fundraising activities, including a charity 5K involving more than 170 recruits and a football match at the Indodrill Stadium.

Paul also visited Tulliallan to deliver testicular cancer awareness sessions to the recruits, making this partnership about much more than fundraising. Together, we have raised vital awareness among Scotland’s future police officers, encouraged early detection and helped more people understand the importance of regular self-checks.

We were honoured to join the recruits at their pass-out parade and accept their generous donation.

Congratulations to everyone on Course 01/26, and thank you for getting behind our work with such energy and commitment. We wish you all the very best as you begin your policing careers. 👏

Time for action. The real face of men’s health in Scotland | Movember 14/09/2026

Today we joined Movember UK at Tynecastle for the launch of The Real Face of Men's Health Scotland, highlighting the challenges facing men across Scotland and calling for a dedicated Men's Health Action Plan.

The report also shines a light on the brilliant work already happening on the ground. It was great to be alongside so many other organisations working to improve men's health across Scotland, and today reinforced just how important collaboration is if we're going to make real progress.

We're proud to see Cahonas recognised in the report as an example of what works, and pleased that its recommendations recognise the need to strengthen support for men affected by testicular cancer, including the psychological impact.

There's much more to do, but this is an important step and a conversation we're proud to be part of.

A productive afternoon at Cahonas HQ

We’ve been busy putting together another batch of our You’ve Got This Cancer Care Packs, ready to head to the Beatson this Friday.

They’re packed with practical bits and pieces to make treatment that little bit easier, but there’s something just as important inside too, a reminder that there’s support out there and nobody has to go through testicular cancer alone.

Sometimes it’s the small things that make a difficult day a little easier.

Next stop, the Beatson. 💙

Most men know how to check their bank balance.

Most know how to check the football scores.

Most know how to check their tyre pressure.

But ask how to check their testicles…Suddenly the room goes quiet.

Checking yourself takes around a minute. That one minute could save your life.

Know your normal. Check once a month. If something changes, get it checked.

26.2 miles is a long way.

But it’s nothing compared to the journey faced by someone hearing the words: “You have testicular cancer.”

We’re looking for a small team of runners to take on the TCS London Marathon 2027 for Cahonas Scotland.

You’ll get a free place.

In return, you’ll help us reach more young men with life-saving education, support more people through diagnosis and treatment, and make sure nobody faces testicular cancer alone.

Ready to be part of it?

Comment below, send us a DM, or email us to find out more.

“I didn’t want to add that extra worry.”

When Nathan first noticed something wasn’t right, he kept it to himself. He didn’t want to worry his family. He didn’t want to burden his friends. He didn’t want to add to anyone else’s stress.

It’s something we hear time and time again from men affected by testicular cancer.

Many face appointments, scans, treatment and uncertainty feeling they have to carry it all alone. The reality is that a diagnosis doesn’t just affect physical health. It can impact confidence, relationships, mental wellbeing and the ability to ask for help when it’s needed most.

That’s why Cahonas Scotland does what we do. From our Check In Room and peer support activities, to one-to-one conversations and our online community, we’re creating spaces where people affected by testicular cancer can talk openly, share experiences, and connect with others who understand.

🎙️ Watch Nathan share his experience on Check One Two.

"I just didn't want to do it anymore."

Testicular cancer is often described as one of the most treatable cancers, and thankfully survival rates are high. What is talked about less often is the impact treatment can have on someone's mental wellbeing.

In this clip from Check One Two, Ronan reflects on reaching the final days of chemotherapy and feeling completely exhausted, physically and mentally.

Behind every diagnosis is a person trying to navigate fear, uncertainty, treatment, recovery, and everything that comes with it. It's why support matters.

Whether that's a conversation, peer support, a podcast episode, or simply knowing someone understands what you're going through, nobody should have to face cancer alone.
