Maple Rock Design

New to the gram. The Roundup

Going to try to share more regular updates of some of the work we’re doing.

This one is fairly design heavy.

20 page conference brochure

Design/Artwork/Layout/Print.

Absolutely ❤️ pulling these together.

Typecraft on the production. Basically the best in the business. They never let you down when it comes to tight deadlines. Matthew Magovern is a top hand model 🤭💅

Getting creative with pretty much free reign to come up with something 🌶️. Putting Ian Blackett package to good use. High res, quality photography makes designing a hell of alot easier. This is designed for A1 posters and A5 hero cards 💪

Human design 1️⃣ - Ai Slop 0️⃣

Do it once - do it right 🙏

Always something breaking when it
comes to the web 🔧

Working on two web refreshes… Lots of planning before we start developing 👀

Roland vs Graphtec

Biggest test/failure of the week was getting the old Roland to cut after printing. Didn’t want to play ball, been fine previously 🤷‍♂️ After 3m of waste. It was back to getting the Graphtec to handle the cutting side of things. Takes a bit longer to setup but gives us much more control, more accuracy.

Single colour Vinyl vs Full colour

Additional to the posters, we’ve made some full colour + laminated kiss cut decals alongside the traditional single colour cut vinyl.

Need decals/stickers you know where to come?

Psst… We’re giving away 100 custom stickers + design*

Made right here. And yes… we’ll even design them. 🚫 NO AI SLOP DESIGNS.

Just proper human-made design, printed and cut in-house.

Winner picked at random. Entries close midnight Sunday 13th September.

Really pleased with how this one has turned out. From pretty much a blank canvas to something that really showcases what Lara - Coach | Injury | Rehab | Performance is all about at a glance.

Design/Production/Install all handled in-house… Who’s next? 💅🖍️

🎉🥳🎂🎁 Wow! Ten years… Happy Birthday Maple Rock Mk II 🎉🥳🎂🎁

Not really sure where the time goes. Taking on a business on the cusp of Brexit (🇪🇺💪), surviving a pandemic and the 💩 show that followed. It’s certainly not been plain sailing but I think we’ve had fun in the process?

Huge thank you to all of our current and past clients for trusting us to get creative with design and code ❤️🥰

This industry is mad at the best of times but right now we’re living through a taxing period of time with the influx of design and tech AI slop. Here’s to the next ten years whatever that might look like 😬💪😮‍💨

Enjoy the random shots from my camera

Wow! Last time I checked it was March… I started the year with good intent to keep the grid up to date yet here we are at the end of June. Another financial year end. It’s actually ten years since we took the helm of good ship Maple Rock 🎂🎉🥳

So what have we been up to in the last six months (the first flying fully solo 😬!!)

1. Built two custom React web applications. Its growing on my slowly after many years of Vue.
2. Delivered a multilingual, secure static website with progressive enhancement (fully functional without JavaScript)
3. Launched our first full WordPress block theme 🎉
4. Designed lots of things…multilingual documents, posters, exhibition stands, brochures, flyers.
5. Illustrated/designed custom T-shirts👕
6. Ongoing Laravel & WordPress support for existing clients
7. Website consultancy: upgrades, performance, SEO & future-proofing
8. Expanded the print studio 🖨️
• Large-format printer added.
Still finding my way around this machine but we’re getting there!
• Heat press upgraded
9. All whilst fighting the Ai slop 🤖Powered by human creativity = my brain, my experience 💪

Thank you to all of our existing clients for trusting us(me) to take things forward. Looking forward to what’s coming up in the 2nd half of the year!

If you need PROPER design/websites/technical advice + print get in touch!

Latest T-shirt design - all custom illustrated (zero help from AI) apart from Illustrator 😉💪

Dusted off the camera for some event photography last week. Nice to make use of real life skills... Got us thinking, with the saturation of AI slop. Is photography the only creative skill where it can’t step on your toes? Real life moments, captured in real time by a human 🤖📸

Delighted to be joining the Pro ET sponsorship scheme for the 2026 season 🧡🏁
