We went and blooming won Race Against the Tide! Such a bizarre, niche thing to have experienced and I utterly loved it. Brilliant to learn a creative thing from scratch and figure it out along the way. I could feel my brain stretching to accommodate the new thing. Incredibly grateful to have been teamed up with Rachel Stubbs Art the most amazing artist (go check out her paintings!) and patient teacher.

Delighted to have met such a bunch of creatives in the other teams and grateful for our chat group to remind each other that it wasn’t just a fever dream. In difficult times I think creating something silly is just what’s needed. The mildest of peril in the tide coming in and swallowing our sand creations. No real hurt caused and everything left as nature intended. Enormous thanks to all the team and to BBC Scotland for making this gentle fun tv show happen.

Pouring so much love and energy and time for those hours each episode only for it to disappear in a matter of moments back to the sea seems like a parallel to life. Make something beautiful while you are here, enjoy it while it lasts, it will be gone soon enough, and that’s okay. What will you do with that time while you have it? How will you make it silly and fun and beautiful?

We’re hiring! 🥳 Shop Assistant & Stationery Enthusiast
PART-TIME, 2 DAYS PER WEEK TO INCLUDE SATURDAYS.
A rare opportunity to join our women-led team of stationery geeks at our new headquarters in Chippenham. Full training will be provided for this most wonderful human.

ROLE INCLUDES:
• Helping customers choose the right stationery.
• Quality checking bespoke print orders.
• Packing our own brand stationery and cards.
• Gollating and binding notebooks.
• Servings customers, answering the phone, replying to emails.
• Assisting workshop teachers to set up, tea making and clear up.
• Wire & glue book binding.
• Potential for Print Consultant training.

YOU ARE:
• Generally creative & a lover of stationery.
• Confident in your own skin and happy to talk to people.
• Great at problem solving and happy to take the initiative.
• Works extremely well to deadlines & is organised
• Confident using the computer and doing some maths.
• Optimistic with a cheery disposition
• Able to lift 10-15kg with ease

This role is part time, two days a week (14 hours including Saturdays starting on minimum wage.

Joine me and Rachel Stubbs Art for some sand sculpting fun at Weston-super-Mare beach on Sunday 6th September!

We’ll be making some low sand sculptures through the day with an ocean theme. Come and see what we create, be inspired, and have a go yourself.

There will definitely be an octopus, a seal, and a submarine. What else would you like to see in our sea themed sand sculpture?
