🦦🦅 Nature at its absolute best! ❤️

We're incredibly lucky to witness some amazing wildlife here at Gruinard Bay, but moments like this are truly something special.

A huge thank you to Chris, one of our wonderful static caravan owners and an avid bird watcher, for getting up bright and early to capture this fantastic footage taken a couple of weeks ago. 👏

The video shows an otter enjoying its freshly caught breakfast on the rocks in the bay, while, towering just above, a magnificent white-tailed sea eagle patiently watches, no doubt hoping for a few leftovers! What an incredible encounter between two of Scotland's most iconic wild animals.

It's moments like these that remind us just how privileged we are to call this beautiful corner of the Highlands home, and how special it is to be able to share it with all of our guests.

Have you ever been lucky enough to spot an otter or a sea eagle here at Gruinard Bay? We'd love to hear about your wildlife encounters in the comments! 🦦🦅

A few more magical wildlife moments from Gruinard Bay... 🦭🦦

These lovely photos, taken over the last couple of weeks, capture a seal mum and her pup relaxing on the rocks, while one of our resident otters enjoys a spot of fishing nearby. It's a reminder of just how special this part of the Highlands is.

Whether you're watching wildlife from the shore, exploring the coastline, or simply taking in the breathtaking views, every day brings something new here at Gruinard Bay Caravan Park.

If you're lucky enough to spot our local wildlife, please remember to enjoy it from a respectful distance. Seal mums and their pups are especially vulnerable, so giving them plenty of space helps keep them safe and allows them to rest undisturbed. Thank you for helping us protect the wonderful wildlife that makes Gruinard Bay so special. 💙

I always get a little worried when Krissy says, “I’ve had an impromptu idea!” 🤦🏻‍♂️

This time, though, it turned out to be a brilliant one! We moved the garden furniture outside Reception, set up the TV, and settled in to watch England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 take on Argentina 🇦🇷 in the World Cup.

Okay… the result didn’t quite go the way we were hoping, but that certainly didn’t spoil the evening. A huge well done to the England team on a fantastic World Cup campaign. You did yourselves proud, shown incredible determination throughout the tournament, and given us all some unforgettable moments. 👏⚽

It was fantastic to spend a relaxed summer evening with guests from England, Scotland, the Netherlands and Germany, all enjoying the match together. These are the moments we treasure—great company, plenty of laughs, and a chance for everyone (including us!) to unwind.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and made it such a lovely evening. The best part? By the end of the night, everyone had agreed they would come back and do it all again in four years’ time! 😊 We look forward to welcoming you all back!

🌅 Evenings like this remind us just how lucky we are…

🦭 Seals basking on the rocks ✅
🌅 A breathtaking sunset ✅
🌈 A beautiful rainbow ✅

…all at the same time. ❤️

We genuinely feel so incredibly lucky to call this place home, and it’s such an honour to be able to share moments like these with our wonderful guests.

Sometimes nature really does put on the most spectacular show, and we’re so grateful to experience it here at Gruinard Bay. 💙

🎉🐾 It’s my 12th(ish) Birthday! 🐾🎉

What a pawsome day I’ve had celebrating at Gruinard Bay! ❤️

The day started with helping Daddy take the recycling to Gairloch… yawn! 😴 Luckily, he knew exactly how to make up for it by buying me a brand-new tennis ball from the farm shop in Gairloch. 🎾 (Good choice, Daddy!)

Then I met up with my fellow Patterdale pal, Terry, for a run along the beach. We had the best time sniffing absolutely everything and causing just enough mischief! 🐶🌊

Back at the caravan park, I spent some quality time “playing” football… although I think the football would describe it as being completely destroyed! ⚽🤣

Next stop was The Jam Jar at the Aultbea Hotel for my birthday pint (don’t worry… just water for me! 😉🍺). The lovely Emily, absolutely spoiled me with lots of tasty treats. ❤️🐾

Then it was home for even more fun with my brand-new Nessie toy… I haven’t managed to destroy that one… yet! 🦕🤣

Now I’m one very happy (and very tired!) birthday boy. Time for a nap before tomorrow’s adventures!

Lots of love,
Ted 🐾❤️

📱 Mobile Phone Found

A mobile phone was handed into reception this evening after being found in the sea/on the beach by some of our lovely guests who were out snorkelling. Thankfully, they spotted it and brought it straight to us.

We think it may belong to a French visitor.

If you’ve lost a phone, please get in touch with us and let us know a description of it so we can make sure it finds its way back to its rightful owner.

There's walk-ins... and then there are kayak-ins! 🛶🌊

We had a lovely gentleman from Belgium arrive at reception yesterday wearing a wetsuit and absolutely soaking wet!

"Do you have any tent pitches available?" he asked.

"Of course!" replied Krissy. "By the way... where have you come from?" she asked slightly puzzled!

"The beach," he smiled. "Me and my five friends are arriving by sea kayak."

Sure enough, up came five sea kayaks, and before long the whole group had pitched their tents alongside them.

Now that's a pretty cool way to arrive at Gruinard Bay Caravan Park! 😍

Whether you arrive by car, motorhome, campervan, on foot... or by kayak, we'll always be happy to welcome you!

We may not have had the full heatwave that much of the south has been enjoying, but that hasn’t stopped our resident seals from making the most of the sunshine this morning! ☀️🦭

And to top it off, one of our lovely guests was treated to the sight of not one, but two young otters together on the rocks this evening! 😮🦦

It’s moments like these that make Gruinard Bay so special. You never know what amazing wildlife you’ll spot during your stay!

Genuinely not quite sure what we spotted tonight in Gruinard Bay! 🤔🌊

Seal or otter? Playing or fishing? What do you think?

We’ve been lucky enough to spot both seals and otters throughout the day, so we’re struggling to identify our mystery visitor! Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

One thing’s for sure – there’s never a dull moment when you’re watching the bay! 💙

🚣‍♂️ A big shout-out to Dominic and Nicola Gribbin! 🚣‍♂️

We were delighted to welcome Dominic and Nicola to Gruinard Bay Caravan Park last night as part of their incredible challenge to circumnavigate the entire coast of Britain by kayak.

Dominic is undertaking this remarkable solo sea kayaking journey, supported every step of the way by his welfare team, Nicola and Ella, their trusty dog. 🐾

Along the way, they are raising funds for three fantastic charities:
💙 National Migraine Centre
💙 Parkinson's UK
💙 AF Association
