🚦Some useful information from Dechra UK on both prevention tips and the system we use when managing a strangles outbreak 'traffic light'.

A few facts about the Strangles vaccine:

💉 Not a Live Vaccine: Contains only sub-units of the bacteria that trigger immunity but cannot cause strangles - your horse will not get a mild version of the disease
🔬 No Interference with Testing: Strangvac ™ does not affect results from blood tests or guttural pouch testing for strangles.
🐴 Highly Effective: The vaccine will not stop horses becoming infected with Strangles however will significantly reduce the risk of moderate to severe disease, which helps curb the spread within the population.
📝 Proven Safety: It is safe with a low recorded reaction rate of 5%, with only mild, short-lived side effects in most cases.
🧪 Completely New Vaccine: Strangvac™ is unrelated to the older strangles vaccine from 10+ years ago.

𝐄𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐥𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐳𝐚 (𝐅𝐥𝐮) ⚠️

Equine Influenza (flu) is a respiratory virus that spreads very easily from horse to horse. It causes the horse to be lethargic for several weeks, and signs often include a nasal discharge, fever and coughing. Equine Influenza has been circulating in the UK 🦠

We particularly recommend flu vaccinations in all young stock and older horses, all horses that mix with horses from other yards e.g. competing or hacking out, and all horses kept on yards with different horses arriving and leaving 💉

It is also important that you know what is 'normal' for your horse and if you have any concerns or need advice please give the clinic a call 01873 840069 🌡

The Alzheimer’s Society want to create a future where dementia no longer devastates lives and we were incredibly proud to donate £950.00 to the Alzheimer's Society 🫶

We have passed on all donations that you as clients gave as part of the dental promotion earlier in the year 🦷

Laura from the Alzheimer's Society was thrilled by our novel idea to raise money and had never had a donation photo taken with a beautiful horse before 🐴
