Dine and Dash Tokani: Friends of the Fiji Museum is hosting ‘Dine and Dash’ in August in support of the Fiji Museum’s Fiji 1838: Face to Face exhibition.

Dine & Dash is a mystery tour of the city so can’t give away too much because: ! BUT it will be fun, while supportive of the work of the Fiji Museum. We will gather on the Museum Verandah from 5pm for a and you can visit the galleries for free. At 6pm, you will then be transported in separate groups to the restaurants, and after your final (dessert) resto, you will all be returned to the Museum.

It is a fun way to do a walk-thru that you can do as a group of friends or colleagues or a family while supporting the work of our Fiji Museum.

Tokani: Friends of the Fiji Museum is hosting ‘Dine and Dash’ in August in support of the Fiji Museum’s Fiji 1838: Face to Face exhibition.

Fiji 1838: Face to Face is a twin exhibition presented in Fiji and in Chartres, France as Fidji 1838: Face à Face. It documents the voyage of two French vessels through Fiji’s waters. It features rare drawings, historical artefacts and narratives to bring to life the voyage and the crew’s encounters with local people and landscapes.

Dine and Dash is an intimate event that will take attendees on a foodie’s tour of Suva. With a Fiji/French fusion theme, it will be a unique experience for lucky attendees.

Tokani: Friends of the Fiji Museum is a community dedicated to supporting the Fiji Museum. Our previous fundraising efforts have contributed to upgrading infrastructure at the Museum and hiring expert staff.

✨ TOMORROW IN SUVA: STEP FACE TO FACE WITH HISTORY ✨

We are thrilled to announce that Fiji 1838: ‘Face to Face’ Exhibition opens TOMORROW, July 18, at the Fiji Museum in Suva!

This unique twin exhibition—mirrored at the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Chartres in France ( Ville de Chartres )—connects two sides of the world through a shared moment in time.

📅 Dates: July 18, 2026
📍 Location: Fiji Museum, Suva
🕚 Time: 9AM to 4:30PM

The Exhibition features illustrations by Ernest Goupil (1814-1840), one of two artists on the voyage; these illustrations are now cared for by the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Chartres and the Musée du quai Branly – Jacques Chirac. These works, previously unseen by the public, provide first-hand observations of Fijian people, landscapes and life, and are supported by the Fiji Museum's renowned collection of 19th century artefacts.

Several local artists will also provide contemporary responses to the historic narratives, artifacts, illustrations, and prints through poetry, jewellery and masi. Featured artists include includes Irami Buli, Ropate K**a, Akanisi Macesaya, Wainitki Maivalenisau, Kalesi Baleula and Camari Serau.
