2016 Standard rental rates for the cottages. We hope to see you around here soon!

Hi, friends of Casa Antonio. I just wanted to let you know we will be renting the cottages again from this summer. We still have a fair bit of small repair work and painting to get done around the place, and have some family guests coming in the next few months, but we're open for bookings from Saturday 25 June onwards.
We have the standard rates which I'll post in a short while. We are offering an Early Bird discount of 10% on all bookings confirmed before 31 March 2016.

Central heating finally working as it should after a couple of weeks of high tension and cold evenings. Thanks to Anna Ferrari and the technical team at La Ungaro SL for their support.

Let there be (electric) light! Ceiling lamp in the boiler room from the extension's own board, through its own wall switch...ah, bliss.
New tiles in vestibule and on stairs by Amador and Rafa - nice, eh?
Finally, one of the local shepherds with his huge Andalusian sheepdogs, grazing the flock on the hill opposite Casa Antonio.

Work has been racing ahead on the new extension since the last update. Floors all tiled, outside rendered, most external doors and windows are in but unglazed as yet. Most plumbing done, electrical wiring going ahead. Internal plastering almost complete, painting to continue when dry. Special tribute to Rafa, the singing builder, for his great tiling work and singing!

First attempt at making jam, using plums from the garden. It seems to be more alchemy than cooking, but I'm sure (= I hope) we'll get better at it as the years go by!

Monday Jul 28. Construction charging ahead now, with three brickies hard at it, supported by Antonio (who grew up in the old house!) mixing the mortar and getting it to them. Juan Cruz and José have been working on the drainage ahead of the ground floor being poured tomorrow. Also a pic of Lynn making some kind of spell to ward off bad stuff (or it may be a way of telling people it's our 33rd wedding anniversary today!).

Saturday July 19. Oops! Almost forgot about our new access gate and stairs off the parking area. This will help when we get deliveries of larger items, e.g. pellets, where we can avoid blocking the street outside. It also helps with access during construction, while the main entrance is shared with several tons of sand, roof tiles, bricks and bags of cement!!
Update on the progress downstairs. Finished floor level will be just below the top of the brick courses round the edge of the slab, adding first a few tons of 'chinos' (chuckies in Scotland), then another 15cm of concrete. The brick structure on its own will be filled with concrete and is to anchor the staircase (made of ... you guessed it, reinforced concrete) to the foundation slab.
