🌱💡In one of our tailor made courses we organized with Eduplus and Tenerife Courses, we recently had the opportunity to visit AFES Mental Health organization, the driving force behind the "Caléndula: agroecology for inclusion in mental health" project.
During our visit, we were inspired by AFES's dedication to environmental and human care, values that resonate deeply with us. The project aims to build networks with individuals and organizations committed to sustainable practices, promoting both individual and collective well-being.
We visited them with a group of professionals from a hospital in Lodz, Poland, who joined them in their activities, gaining insights into their therapeutic initiatives and rehabilitation programs, as part of the tailor-made course we prepared for them.
These encounters not only enriched both their and our knowledge of agroecology but also strengthened the sense of community and empowerment. As we reflect on the physical and psychological benefits of tgarden-based learning, we're all inspired to replicate them in various contexts, from preventive measures to comprehensive mental health support.

Spring and its beauty in our intergenerational garden in Spain.

Our group of seniors continue with the intergenerational garden project in Punta del Hidalgo, Spain, even after the end of the Growing Communities Erasmus project. This year finally, we could strengthen the collaboration with the local school, and can have direct contact with the children and their parents in the garden.

While we are organizing our Communities European conference and project meeting in Tenerife, in Romania there is celebrating the Festival of Permaculture Growing Communities

On Monday we had another online meeting to discuss last minute details before submitting our Final report.

On the 26th of August we organized our final European conference in the framework of Project:
"Empowerment through social permaculture: the GROWING COMMUNITIES project" where we presented our results.
The project uses social permaculture to foster social inclusion and environmental care.

Together we get the garden in shape!

Our seniors were happy to return to the garden after having travelled to Hungary and Romania with other Erasmus plus projects where they could visit, among others, other gardens and food market (pictures from Romania)

We had some renovation work done to the walls of the garden by the city hall, so it was now time for our group to paint them nicely.
Apart from that September was another busy month of gardening in our little paradise in Punta. The compost is happily decomposing, the voracious worms are digging their way and our seniors are also busy rooting around in the soil. Happy gardening everybody!
