It’s not every day the auditorium smells of ethanol, soot drifts from the ceiling, and a balloon explodes in front of 50 high school students.

Curiosity often starts with something unexpected.

At a time when AI is changing how we work, learn, and make decisions, inspiring the next generation to pursue science and technology feels more important than ever.

AI can generate answers, but we need intelligent minds to set the direction and ask the right questions.

That's why we opened our doors for Science Day for the fifth time in a row, welcoming students to explore how science and technology help solve real-world challenges.

Not because we expect all of them to become engineers or scientists.

But because inspiring even a few more young people to pursue a path within STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) can make a difference far beyond an individual career.

A huge thank you to Naturvidenskabernes Hus for taking the initiative, and to all the students for a fun and inspiring day!

Welcoming 100 new colleagues from around the world 🌏

This week, we had the pleasure of bringing together 100 new colleagues from 19 countries at the FOSS Innovation Center in Hillerød, Denmark.

Over five inspiring days, they got to know FOSS and each other, learning more about our purpose, values, strategy, products, and business while meeting colleagues from across countries and functions.

They also had the chance to meet the family behind FOSS and our leadership team, hear personal stories about our history and where we are heading, and share an informal dinner.

A record-breaking 110 FOSS colleagues came together for this year’s DHL Relay in Copenhagen.

We spent the afternoon and evening running, enjoying great conversations, and connecting with colleagues across teams and departments – all in a fantastic atmosphere filled with energy, support, and team spirit 🙌

For more than 15 years, FOSS has been part of the DHL Stafetten, making it a well-established tradition and a great opportunity to spend time together in a different way than we do every day.

We’re honestly a bit excited about this achievement.

Helping young, talented scientists turn their ideas into real results, and allowing them to work on real industry challenges, is an important part of how we continue to innovate and stay open to new perspectives.

Some time ago, Linh Thuy Ha and Troels Bøg Holme completed their master's project in a collaboration between Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen, Arla Foods Ingredients Group P/S and FOSS.

Now, their study has been accepted and published in the International Journal of Dairy Technology.

So what did they discover?

To say it short and sweet, their focus was on a very practical challenge: how to measure the degree of hydrolysis in whey protein production faster and more efficiently.

Using FT-IR spectroscopy, they showed that it is possible to obtain reliable measurements much closer to the production process. The result is faster insights and better process control, with less reliance on laboratory testing.

For us, this is a great example of what can happen when academic research, industry knowledge and fresh perspectives come together to solve real-world challenges.

On July 2, 1956, Nils Foss founded FOSS in Hillerød with the ambition to create better ways to analyze food and agricultural products.
 
Seventy years later, that ambition still drives us forward.
 
From a small Danish company to a global organization, we have spent seven decades developing groundbreaking technologies, expanding into new industries, and pushing the boundaries of what is possible.
 
But our story is about more than technology. It is about people – the colleagues, customers, partners, and distributors who have been part of the journey and helped shape FOSS over generations.
 
As we celebrate this milestone, we want to say thank you to everyone who has been part of our first 70 years!
 
We are proud of what we have achieved together and excited for what comes next.

Stronger together - FOSS Run 2026 🌳🏁🏃‍♀️‍➡️

At this year’s FOSS Run, marking its 16th edition, around 150 colleagues came together in the beautiful park at Frederiksborg Castle in Hillerød.

For the first time, our new CEO Christian Rosenkrantz kicked off and joined the race, marking a new chapter in a long-standing FOSS tradition.

From there, it was full speed ahead.
Some ran. Some walked.
Everyone took part.

The FOSS Run has never been about speed alone. It’s about community, shared experiences, and connecting across teams 💙

With Hillerød as the home of FOSS since 1956, it makes it even more meaningful to keep the run right here, year after year.

With our new global facility in Vinge, Denmark, we are scaling our ability to deliver what the world depends on and carry out our tasks with an even greater reach.

FOSS A/S appoints new CEO

We are pleased to announce that Christian Rosenkrantz de Lasson (37) will become CEO of FOSS A/S, with formal appointment at our Annual General Meeting in March. Christian succeeds Kim Vejlby Hansen (61), who will continue advancing our photonics strategy and step into the role of CEO of our holding company, N. Foss & Co. A/S, alongside his various board responsibilities. To ensure the best possible transition, Kim will gradually reduce his operational role in FOSS A/S from the turn of the year.

“It is a pleasure to replace a capable and successful leader with another, once again recruited internally. The CEO transition has long been signaled by Kim and comes at a time when FOSS is performing strongly, and Christian has been well prepared to take over responsibility for FOSS. We are also pleased to strengthen N. Foss & Co., which, alongside FOSS, includes Au2mate, Ibsen Photonics, Wasatch Photonics, SPIO Systems, and Graspian,” says Peter Foss, Chair of the Board.

“I am proud to hand over a strong FOSS to Christian, who is the right person for the role. He has been part of FOSS’s leadership since 2022 and a key player in formulating FOSS’s strategy. This is the right time to transition, both for FOSS and for me,” says CEO Kim Vejlby Hansen.

Kim has been part of FOSS for 24 years, including 17 years in Group Management and 10 years as CEO. Before becoming CEO, he served as COO, Executive Vice President for Business & Product Development, and Vice President, R&D.

Christian joined FOSS in 2015 and most recently served as Senior Vice President, Marketing & Business Innovation, having previously led our EMEA service business. He holds an MSc in International Management and an EMBA.
