Both times I went, I swore to myself I’d walk in with my pockets sewn shut. Both times I walked out with a jacket.

But they weren’t just jackets. I’ve started buying fashion the way I buy art. Of course, I’ll wear both pieces here and there. But to me, they are collector’s items. With both, I knew instantly: they had to be mine — and I will never regret it.

The first jacket is a Jean Paul Gaultier piece from the early ’90s — one of my great idols from the time I was studying fashion design. It will stay with me until someone inherits it one day.

The second jacket is an old vintage leather piece, entirely hand-painted, customized with studs, carrying the handwritten phrase: LE PUNK N’EST PAS MORT.

As Christiane said so perfectly, it’s not about copying the style of punk — it’s about appreciating the attitude behind it. A mindset, a form of expression, that still resonates deeply with me.

I’m a child of Berlin in the ’70s and ’80s, with a small rebel living in my head. When I saw that jacket, I knew immediately — it had to be mine. And now it is.

It’s not hanging in my closet, but on the wall of my home gallery, alongside other artworks by many of my companions along the way.
