When "On Time" Isn't Good Enough
Time is the most valuable asset any of us have, no matter how much money we make.
So there I was, right on time, except there was nowhere to park.Not even on the pavement. I let the customer know.

Hey, we are here, just nowhere to park.

"Well then, organize it. It's your job and your problem."

Punctuality doesn't come with a parking spot. 😅

I agreed with a customer that we would paint his flat.

There was a price for painting including the ceilings, and there was a price without.

In the morning, the customer cancelled the ceilings.

We had already bought more paint than we ultimately needed, and we had calculated the job based on more work and more time. So we absorbed that loss ourselves.

“This is my paint. I paid for it.”

The fact that we had already purchased enough paint for the original job doesn't mean that the remaining paint becomes yours.

Especially when we didn't charge you for it.

Somehow we became the scammers.

No discussion about the quality of the work.

Mover shot dead in the street in Prague. 3 men were involved: 2 movers and an off-duty police officer. After an argument and a subsequent fight, the police officer shot one of the movers. The two sides have given different accounts of what happened.

I’m not trying to decide who was right. What matters to me is how easily a seemingly ordinary moving job can turn into an extremely stressful and potentially dangerous situation.

It started with something very simple: the movers had parked on the pavement, and a police officer who happened to be walking by couldn't get through. There was an argument, later a much more serious confrontation.

Parking on the pavement is one of the things that creates enormous stress for movers. Every day, there can be people complaining that they can't get past, drivers getting angry, arguments starting, and sometimes even physical confrontations. Even when we technically have enough space for someone to get through, there is still the constant pressure of knowing that somebody may object.

So when someone says, “Oh, this is a super easy job,” I always reply..easy once finished.
