The 𝐂𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐈𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐂𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐬 𝐓𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐟𝐟 (𝐇𝐒𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟐) has been approved by Cabinet and started on 10 December 2025. This means some rules about imported goods have changed. The new tariff follows international trade rules.

One change is to to***co excise duty. The duty on to***co will increase by $125.50 for every 1,000 ci******es, or per kilogram of to***co, each year for the first three years. After this, the duty will increase by 5% each year. These increases happen slowly over time and do not happen all at once.

There are also new and updated concessions. Some vehicles that are made or changed to help people with disabilities may qualify for a concession. In addition, if you import goods as a one-off shipment and the total value is $750 or less, no duty is charged.

A new concession is now available for returning Cook Islanders. This applies to Cook Islanders who lived overseas for study or training and are returning to the Cook Islands to work or live permanently.

If you are importing goods and are not sure how these changes apply to you, the Customs team is here to help. You can call our friendly team on 29510 or email [email protected]
