In this video, we see one CAR T cell single-handedly killing 7 cancer cells in 7 hours! Triggering apoptosis after a brief interaction, the T cell swiftly migrates from target to target. Despite the T cellโs success, one cancer cell still manages to resist, and it is this variation that requires us to research and understand T cells better, to ensure the success of immunotherapies.

What if you could study cells and their organelles without disturbing them?
With Nanolive, cell imaging becomes live and label-free, powered by AI instead of dependent on fluorescent stains and dyes, which can stress cells and shorten experiments. This makes it possible to capture the true complexity of cellular phenotypes in their native state.
With Nanolive, you can profile organelles such as nuclei, nucleoli, mitochondria, and lipid droplets in real time. AI-driven segmentation converts these signals into rich, quantitative data, giving you deeper biological insights while keeping experiments physiologically relevant.

Understanding how cells respond to toxic compounds is a cornerstone of drug discovery, safety testing, and academic research. Yet, most traditional cytotoxicity assays only measure a single endpoint, missing the dynamic morphological changes that provide deep insights into drug function.
By increasing the number of parameters studied with Nanoliveโs high-content imaging solutions, researchers can go beyond static measurements. Our label-free, real-time approach reveals how individual cells change over time, uncovering subtle responses such as swelling, vacuolization, or cell death, all without perturbing your samples.

Later today, Elizabeth Nelson will share work from the Koch Institute at MIT, demonstrating a live-cell imaging workflow to quantify the dynamic uptake of nanoparticles, mRNA cargo delivery and transcription, and cytotoxic responses in real time.
By reducing the use of fluorescent dyes to visualize cellular structures and to detect cell death, Nanoliveโs platform enables long-term live cell imaging with reduced phototoxicity, allowing researchers to dynamically investigate nanoparticle uptake, cargo delivery, and cellular response within a single workflow.

Ferroptotic cell death spreads through cell cultures like a wave, as captured here by โRyan Mansell. From the discovery of ferroptosis in 2012, it took 12 more years for this propagation pattern to be discovered and published, which begs the question- what else are we missing when using static endpoints to study studying dynamic processes like cell death?
Next week, researcher Elizabeth Nelson will be sharing their use of live cell imaging to quantify the dynamic processes of nanoparticle uptake, cargo delivery, and drug effects. Register here to learn more about live cell imaging for drug discovery: https://bit.ly/4uqD8Li
